Paris Fashion Week Begins

This is my Christmas: Paris Fashion Week! The most classically great of all the fashion weeks.

And the show I was most excited for? Well, it’s Balenciaga, and it’s happened… and I don’t know what to think.

Shiny florals with moulded shoulder and/or hips.

Shiny slim pants and tops that couldn’t possibly fit anyone correctly.

Super cute designer Nicolas Ghesquiere’s suddenly weird hair.

Hmmm…

Maison Martin Margiela, known for pushing the limits of avant garde, is usually too abstract for me, but this season I am picking up what he’s putting down.

Big shoulders, natural curves, and glorious, glorious anonymity.

Tsumori Chisato turned out another collection I want to own in its entirety, if only just to look at.

So fun, so colorful, and still so carefully designed.

I really liked Viktor & Rolf’s musical theme… Beautiful runway, beautifully glamorous girls, plus violins.

What’s not to love?

My favorite so far has to be draping genius Rick Owens. This collection is completely mind-blowing.

The details, the drape, the relationship between the cut and the material…

Wow.

So now that Balenciaga and V&R are over? My favorite under the radar designer, Martin Grant! I’m anxiously waiting.

I saw Jennifer Connelly in that first floral Balencaiga dress. All I can say is gross.

Erinc, unfortunately no pugs come with Tsumori Chisato’s clothes!

Rachael, wow, J.Co was wearing that? I thought she was so much more elegant…
