You probably already know that Facebook is awesome. It’s an easy way to keep up with all your friends (and frenemies) and a superb procrastination tool. Well now it’s even better, because ModCloth has a Facebook fan page! To celebrate our newest online space, we’re giving you the chance to get some free stuff. Think of it as our virtual house-warming party, except that we give you the presents.
To enter, just add a fan photo to our page between now and Friday, April 4th. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a picture of you, but it does need to somehow include a ModCloth item. Our favorite will win a $50 gift certificate plus eternal fame. Two runners-up will also each win a $25 gift certificate.
Creativity is a plus, and multiple entries are encouraged!
Good luck & have fun – we can’t wait to see what you guys come up with.

It’s March 20th, the first day of Spring! To celebrate the change of seasons and the warmer temperatures that, we hope, will soon follow, we’ve added the very first swimsuit in ModCloth history…

… aren’t you glad we waited to find the perfect one?

Don’t tell my boyfriend, but I’ve been looking at wedding invitations off and on all morning. Although marriage is not in my immediate future, wedding season is approaching. Lately, the office has been buzzing about which new ModCloth dress will be worn to whose ceremony. I may be most excited to one day carefully select the perfect invitations for my perfectly styled wedding. Invitations are an investment and, unless you’re crafty and have a lot time, be prepared to spend a pretty penny. Something so special and extravagant should be as unique as you are and Etsy has a beautiful selection.

I love the clean and simple style of Vreeland Design’s save the date cards. The shop’s owner uses eco-friendly paper, envelopes, adhesives, and water based inks so you can feel a little bit better about all that extra paper you’re sending out into the world. As much as I love modern clean lines, a more vintage inspired style is just as charming. I love the pink chandelier and old wallpaper feel of Enfin, La Viola’s save the date card and invitation set. When my day comes, I will have the cutest wedding possible.

Here’s some good news to get the week started right: ModCloth has been featured in the Pittsburgh City Paper! Click here to read the article online (plus see an adorable picture of Winston) or, if you’re lucky enough to live the ‘burgh, pick up a copy this week from one of the many stands around the city.

One of the items on my daily to-do list: post an outfit photo to wardrobe_remix, my new favorite Flickr group. Afterwards, I spend at least 15 minutes looking through everyone else’s snapshots. I find it so inspiring to see what other girls from around the world are wearing! Usually they’ll also write a little blurb about their outfit choice, where they bought it, what they were doing that day, etc. It’s so fascinating and quite refreshing, especially on those days when work is intense and I don’t really get the chance leave the office. It’s like a mini-fashion-vacation!
Here are some of my recent favs…

This remixer, irene_adler , is wearing a mix of vintage, Etsy, and H&M: my kind of girl! She’s also from Helsinki, Finland.

StrawberryKitten is wearing a jacket that she made herself!

curtainwalls pair florals with stripes oh so well, and I think I might have dreamt about those shoes last night.
So, now I have to know: do you remix?

If you’ve read my ModLife profile, you know that I love vegan baking. I also really like kitchen utensils and appliances and most symbols of domesticity-there’s a special place in my heart for vintage stand mixers and sewing machines. As you can imagine, I was totally delighted to find Ball and Chain, an Etsy shop devoted to a variety of jewelry styles. The Kitschy Silhouettes collection is my favorite featuring everything from vacuums to bedpans.

I already have a sewing machine necklace and I think it’s ready to meet a stand mixer necklace to keep it company.

This week, I made a purchase that I’ve been thinking about for a long time.
I bought a wig.
No, my hair isn’t falling out and no, I haven’t come down with a case of crazy (ala Britney Spears). I just missed having longer, darker hair and, considering the cost of hair extensions and the potential damage of repeated dyeing, it seemed like the most sensible option. Here’s the result…

What do you think? I can’t wait to wear it out and totally confuse all of my friends.
Also – the wig shop that I purchased from was totally amazing and creepy!

They even had fake mustaches (which I seriously considered buying, just for the novelty…)

I’ll never be able to look at a mustache again without questioning it’s authenticity!

Thanks to everyone who entered our Name That Cardigan contest. There were art references, music references, great outfit ideas, and more so we encourage you to look through all our entries!
Choosing a winner was tough (and we were a little disappointed at the lack of Arrested Development references…), but we did select the final name for our brand new cardigan!
Congratulations, Ivy, on naming and helping to describe the Bitter Sophisticate Cardigan.

We love getting customer feedback – emails, phone calls, comments – positive and negative! But sometimes we receive customer contact that is so special, and so entertaining, that we all have to stop what we’re doing and pay attention.
Today, that something special happened. Today, we received a voicemail that went something like this:
(heavy breathing)
(silence)
(more heavy breathing)
(silence)
and then:
(beatboxing)
(high-pitched vocal stylings)
(beatboxing)
(hanging up)
To the customer who left this voicemail: you made our day!
