Exciting news! We’ve paired up with Gala from iCing to give you a chance to win a $100 ModCloth gift certificate. Sounds good, right?
Entering the contest is easy. Just make a Polyvore set with at least one ModCloth item then leave a comment linking to the set on this post. Enter as many times as you’d like, but make sure to do it before May 1st! On that day, Gala and I will pick our favorite and announce the winner.
By the way, while you’re entering the contest, be sure to look around the blog. Gala’s a great writer and her posts are always positive and inspiring. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that she’s super nice and cool.
Good luck everyone!
You may have noticed that things have been a little quiet around here lately… not very many new products, no new blog posts, etc. I swear that we have a good excuse. Last Saturday we started one of the biggest projects that ModCloth has ever undertaken: we packed up and moved our entire operation. Our new, much larger home is in a renovated steel mill from the early 1900’s. It’s a very cool space and we’re so happy to be here, although, I have to admit, the last few days have been really tiring.
Packing up our entire inventory was no easy chore. Here’s Joseph, our inventory manager, adding a box to what we like to call the ModCloth Mountain.

We also painted the warehouse and office…

… and spent a lot of time organizing…

There’s still lots of work to do, mostly fun stuff like decorating, but as of today we are officially “moved in”.
This month, we’re happy to announce that we’ve been featured in two very cool (yet very different) magazines. First, our Wind Up Bird Clock is a part of the Avian Flair section in the June issue of Birdtalk Magazine!

Plus, our Eye Brightener and May Flowers Eyeshadow Set are in the May issue of one of our favorite magazines, Shojo Beat.

Pretty cool, huh? Check out our Flickr to find even more press mentions.
Today is probably the nicest day of the year here in Pittsburgh. Bright blue skies, shining sun, spring flowers, chirping birds… all that good stuff. So of course, we couldn’t just sit inside and work at our computers all day. Instead, we took a break to package free gifts outside on our front lawn. It was like a fashion picnic!

Even Winston wanted to come out and get some sun, although we had to put him in a box to keep him from chasing down cars on the street…

Sorry to disappoint, but he won’t actually be sent out with an order as a free gift. But you might get a cool bracelet or a pair of glittery earrings or a bright headband; we think the surprise is half the fun!
How to dress your boyfriend, Part 1:

A good hooded sweatshirt is a staple in a young gentleman’s wardrobe. I think variety is key in the sweatshirt world and was totally pleased to stumble upon Cloud Brings Rainbows, an Etsy shop specializing in “upcycled” hoodies. In a totally wearable color scheme, this zip-up is far from boring with overlapping diagonals and an artfully placed U.S. seal. Sure, they have lots of fantastic women’s styles but it’s so nice to find something I’d want my boyfriend to wear. Hopefully, he’ll be willing to work this greyscale showpiece into his two hoodie rotation.
The past few days have been beautiful here in Pittsburgh, so we’ve been spending a lot of time outside on the porch. I couldn’t resist taking a few portraits of Winston…

… he just looked so pensive. Maybe he’s pondering the meaning of life? Or… just thinking about where his next meal is coming from.
The winning fan picture from our new Facebook page is:

Congrats, Dia! This image of the Rainy Day Necklace is truly beautiful.
Honorable mention (and a $25 gift certificate!) also goes out to:

Alissa re-enacting a Belle & Sebastian photo in the Crème Brûlée Dress

Heather’s ModCloth-inspired living room, complete with a Pocket Watch Necklace wall clock!
Thank you so much to everyone who entered. We feel so lucky to have such creative and beautiful customers. And if you didn’t win this time, no worries! There will be many more contests in the future.
Have a great weekend!
I’d like to celebrate this wonderful Friday (and the weekend to follow) with a picture of one of my most beloved pieces of mushroom memorabilia…

Plus, it serves as a good reminder: today’s the last day to upload your photos to the ModCloth Facebook Fan Page for a chance to win! Good luck and happy weekend!
