Tales from the Road: Beauty Bar Part 1

Trying to navigate a city foreign to you is difficult enough. Trying to find cool things to do in your down time is a whole other issue. As the self proclaimed “events coordinator” on our trips, I like to scour weekly papers and events sites, like Metromix, of the city we will be visiting for suggestions on restaurants, concerts and cool events.

A recently discovered standby when on the road is the multi city Beauty Bar. Housed in now defunct beauty salons, the bar is decorated with vintage salon staples (waiting area, manicure table and chairs with hair dryers still intact) that provide the bar with an intense retro vibe us ModBuyers were sure to love!

On one of our most recent tradeshow trips to New York City we decided to check out Beauty Bars famous $10 martini and manicure special. Our awesome manicurist, Rachel, had Pittsburgh connections which made us feel quite at home. There were also two DJs, one spinning classic 80s fare in the back and one spinning awesome indie and dancey rock at the bar and indie movie gold boy Paul Giamatti sat at the table across from us!

P.S. Our manicures and martinis were both excellent !
