As Charlotte so appropriately mentioned in Sex and the City, Elizabeth Taylor is the most beautiful woman in the world. From her glamorous life to her breathtaking beauty and style, she has always been the embodiment of stunning Hollywood fashion, even today. From naming a dress after her to filling my Netflix account with her films whenever I need a dose of fashion inspiration, she has played a large role in my wardrobe decisions from the moment I first saw Cleopatra.

Though I may never be able to pull off her iconic golden donned braids, my love of gold jewelry can easily be tied to the regal accessories she wore oh-so-well in this timeless film. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, BUtterfield 8, and even Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf join the ranks of movies that drastically changed my view of clothing.

Off-screen, her chic and show-stopping style was always worthy of admiration. Hot rollers (which I still can’t quite master after countless attempts), crimson lipstick and luxe fur coats (although I prefer faux) are included in my constant homage to this beautiful and talented woman. Look at that hat!

Even later in life, her unique and fabulous style is always an exclamation point on any appearance. Whether she’s attending a benefit for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (of which she was a founding member), promoting her jewelry lines and fragrances, or simply gracing an event with her style and charm, she’ll always be the stunning starlet who’s fashion prowess stole my heart all those years ago.
