This week’s cute find may not be as cuddly as a kitten, but he’s quite an interesting little guy. I found his pic on HeroRat.org, a website created by this orgainzation that trains rats to sniff out landmines safely. And according to Deanna, rats make excellent pets, too!

It is a great occupation that this little guy has, but I have to say…I’m a little terrified of him.
I’ve had pet rats for years. they are possibly the best pet around! they’re smart, they’re clean (despite common prejudices), and love to love! they cuddle and kiss and just like to chill with you…
this is a really cool organization! what a cool use of the rat’s incredible intellect and abilities!
Anybody who thinks rats are gross just needs to check out this little guy’s fingernails! I have students I wish would keep them so clean!
I had a couple of pet rats I recently lost. Rats are wonderful little buggers.
I had a pet rat, she was wonderful. Like a little puppy. She came when I called her name, she was “litter trained” I loved her.

And these rats save people from land mines and TUBERCULOSIS!
Although just as cute, that is not a “pet rat”, it’s an African pouched rat.
