Thank you for the opportunity, such a cool prize !
At age 11 I was diagnosed with scoliosis, a muscular disorder causing your spine to curve into a permanent “S” shape. About 5 years later, it progressed to such an intense curve (80 degrees) that a major surgery was required before it got to a 90 degree curve and I was forever crippled. It was a very very painful surgery and required much attention and careful procedures. My mom stayed with me through and through, pre-surgery, during of course, and post-surgery. She was there to help me walk, get in and out of chairs, my bed, and vehicles. My mother made a great sacrifice for my bettering and I couldn’t thank her more for being there for me and making my recovery as smooth as possible.
I tagged the contest.
hi!
is multiple entries allowed?
xoxoxoox!
I’m entering this contest because I have someone in my life that I am truly thankful for and I want him to be acknowledged. I have been living with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus since grade school. My Lupus started to attack my kidneys as I was a young adult. I started chemotherapy to prevent Lupus from damaging my kidneys.Chemotherapy was the worst experience I have ever gone through. I was a miserable and depressed girl…until I met my present boyfriend, Sam. He was the only person who understood me, comforted me and he even refused to end the relationship when I tried to because I was suffering from depression and wanted him to meet a “normal” girl. When I lost my hair, I broke up with him and he left my house very upset. He came back with a shaver and shaved his head at my house to show me that he could care less about me not having hair. He even bought me a wig when I was too insecure to step out bald because of all the sympathy looks I was getting. Although, it was ugly and the person who sold him the wig totally ripped him off, I appreciated the thought and am forever thankful to him. Whenever I think about it, I can’t help but tear up from his sentiments and be thankful for my boyfriend. It meant a lot to me that I had someone who was willing to stick this out with me. He kept on reminding me that treatment would pass and I would one day be healthy when all I could think about was my treatment. I wake up everyday thankful for my boyfriend and wondering how did I get to be so fortunate enough to meet someone like him. I can’t help but fall more and more in love with him.
does a myspace blog count? I know what I want to write about, but that’s the only real blog I have. I could go on blogspot, but does making a whole blog for this one contest count?
Just wondering

I’m about to get sappy on ya here in the Thankgiving Thank-A-Thon Blog Contest.
I’m going to be so honest here. My mother should be recognized by President Obama as Mother of the Century, even though we still have 91 years of potentially better mothers left. My mother took on her role before I even had a birthday. She took care of me as a fetus by never drinking alcohol or smoking or taking drugs. Before I was born, my head caught on one of her bones, and she accepted being C-sectioned to prevent me from being paralyzed. She took a giant scar for me, before I had even proved myself a person worthy of such great sacrifice. She did the same thing for my brother, four years later. When my brother was tagged autistic at just age 2, my mother brought in therapists. When public and private schools and CHURCHES would literally ban my brother from attending due to his autism, my mother didn’t leave him home with a babysitter. She searched far and wide for a school that would accept him, and she found that school, 25 miles away. My brother was only 3, and my mother cried at the bus stop, but she placed him on that bus because she knew she was sending him to a place of hope. She had hope for this boy ever since “autism” was first suggested. She made my brother feel accepted by finding boys who truly appreciated his friendship, and she invited them to birthday parties filled with imagination and fueled by her craftiness. She made my brother’s infatuations, which are characteristically long-term, come to life. My mother made a career out of parent liaison work with parents of special needs children. She organized community events that produced epic attendance, and raised awareness for just-as-confused parents of children who they loved, but were baffled by. When I practiced my way to the National Spelling Bee in 2000, my mother spent her entire afternoon, five days a week, testing me on complicated words. She introduced me to spelling bees by taking me to one. She knew I was talented at spelling. When we moved to another state, I grew depressed, and my depression grew further into anorexia. My mother saw my symptoms before anyone else I was close to, and she searched with her noteworthy “never quit” attitude for a doctor who specialized in eating disorders. She found me a nutritionist and a psychologist to cover any and every ground I may slip away from. I dropped to 97 pounds, and my mother prayed every night for my survival. Although I think it was seeing her face reflecting and foreshadowing all the pain she would have that spoke to me. She loved me above and beyond. When my brother finally got diagnosed with autism officially, my mom found him behavior classes, special links to help in school, and accelerated classes, because we all discovered soon after that he was a savant. My mother prepared me for college and sustained me though it with phone calls every other day and weekly cards that I believe now could fill out an entire Encouragement section in Hallmark. She sustained my brother through high school graduation, and now he’s in the Honors Program with a scholarship at a university, all due to her. And to think she did all of this as a woman without her father, without her mother, and with intense fibromyalgia: three things that she chooses to look upon as empowerment. I have to be thankful for that, and then I still am completely indebted to her forever.

Sorry!
First post. I linked back.
Thank you for making the contest, by the way. It’s a good way to make us all remember who we’re thankful for, especially since there’s a nice little gift certificate of encouragement.
I thank the Thanksgiving Thank-a-thon Blog Contest for inspiring me to thank my “mama”, who let me walk around in her burgundy snakeskin pumps at the age of 4 and gave me a perm at the age of 6. (Hey, it was the early ’90s for gosh sakes!) Therefore, I thank her for my love of fashion and personal style!
PS: I posted a link to the contest on my Facebook page!

I got the notice that ModCloth would be doing a contest on what I’m thankful, for a chance to win a 100 gift certificate. In turn, I wanted to make mine the best. So, where should I start? I want it to be good. It just seems weird to say what I’m thankful for, to benefit myself. Sounds weird. But. I’m going to. I am thankful for all of the things that offer me and escape. The music that is in my life. The art. All things offer me to go to a place where no one judging anyone. I’m thankful to have things in my life that say the things that I don’t know normally how to. Which is why my MySpace is filled with quotes, pictures, art, everything like that. It says all the things I want to without trying. The music and art have shaped the world as we know it. It is the one thing that still remains limitless. There are no limitations. No one keeping you down. The only way that will happen is if you choose that. To be controlled by the giant labels and being told when to be inspired, when to make music, write, paint, everything. It’s sad. I’m glad that indiependant artists are out there. They’re trying to go out there and make honest music. The main music is okay. No passion. People singing other’s thoughts. That doesn’t sound right. The unabridged passion of Kimya Dawson, and others are what keep me going. They bring meaning to my life. Music is something that I would never want to lose. I’m thankful for music. I’m thankful for the art of things. It puts a fist in The Man’s face and says I really don’t care. My values are my values. My thoughts are my thoughts. And my heart is my heart. These are my works to prove so.

Thanksgiving Thank-A-Thon.
I would like to thank my boyfriend Darrian. We’ve hit rock bottom so many times but everytime you’ve been there for me. You helped me through school, finding a job, when I was having family issues, and so much more. You even brought me ice cream at 3 o’clock in the morning. You would take the hour drive every weekend just to see me and hold me in your arms. I dont think anyone has every cared for me that much.I know I keep hurting you.. and I’m sorry, I’m just grateful that you’re still here because you love me. I was truly blessed to have someone like you brought into my life. . I am SOOOOOO very thankful for yo.u especially since I’m going through the hardest times in my life.I love you. && Thank You SOOOO much. =]
Thank you Lily and Henry. You made me a mama. You made me relax and understand that I can clean up smooshed peas, have strech marks like a silvery tiger and watch two hours of constant Elmo and still have balance. Thank you for teaching me what is important-I didnt’ know how wrong I was till you came along!
Also, attached to above after reading the rules, I say yay Thanksgiving Thank-a-Thon Blog Contest
Besides being thankful for my family and God, I am most thankful for my bestest best friend, Erin; she’s not just my best friend, she’s my bestest best friend. Over the past five years, she has become the sister I never had, and my life would not be the same without her–I would not be the same without her. She’s been there for me through break-ups and surgeries, and I’ve done the same for her. Even though “thank you’s” aren’t really used much when it comes to our relationship (because it’s just known that we’re thankful), it’s sometimes nice to say it. So once again, thank you Erin for being my bestest best friend and putting up with my crazy antics
.
Thank you ModCloth for giving me the opportunity to thank my loved ones. http://blog.modcloth.com/2009-11-09-thanksgiving-thank-a-thon-blog-contest?utm_source=NL_thanksgiving-blog-contest_11-9-09&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=thanksgiving-blog-contest

Waiting waiting waiting….
Great contest !!
I am thankful for my mother. It may sound cheesy and ordinary, but through my time in design school she has been the only relative to support me emotionally. She took the time to understand how much something you love can tear you apart. Not to mention I’m recently engaged and she’s trying to smooth things out with my dad. No matter how mad we get at each other she always has my back; we’re a team. And I am so thankful that she got to be my mom..
Modcolth is sooo amazing!
I finally did it right! Thanks modcloth! Love you!
My thanks are simple. I’m thankful for my health, my family and friends. Also, that I am able to give back to my community through community work and donations to charities. I own my own business and each year I collect for Toys for Tots and my local food bank and the no kill animal shelters and wildlife rescues here in the San Antonio area.
Danke, grazie, et merci!

Although i do not have a scary disease, nor did my parents risk their lives for me, but I am greatful for many things. I am greatful for living in a safe neighborhood, and growing up not fearing for my life. Neither of my parents graduated from college, but they both work their butts off for us. My father, my hero, works from five o’clock in the morning untill nine o’clock at night. All of this he does for us, his family without complaint. My mother works as a manager at our local elementry school’s cafateria. I love my mother and am greatful to have her as my best friend and as a great mother, someone who i can alsways talk to. I know not many people have this connection with their parents, and I am very happy for the fact. I live such a great life, and I wanted to tell Thanksgiving Thank-a-Thon Blog Contest about my life, and the amazing people who are in my life and how extremely greatful i am

I am thankful to everyone who’s ever given a hug to someone who needs it, who ever gave their time or cash to help someone in need, to anyone who’s every stuck by someone even when the simpler thing to do was walk away. I am thankful for the people who give others a second chance, and the people who looked beyond beuty to find a greater personality. I’m thankful for the people who gave up their dreams to help someone in need.
sorry, i changed my url. it is up now.
wrong again. this one works.
ok, last time, this url works for sure, please follow & comment.
I decided to be a little different, and write about an organization that deserves recognition (not that im not thankful for family & ppl around me). What I wrote doesn’t cover how great an animal shelter they are, but it gives people a general understanding (from a cat room volunteer’s point of view). (I put this on my own blog, so that’s why it has a funny name :})

i am definately most thankful for my grandmother because she has always been there for me and totally amazing. every time i had a problem she was there to help through always being understanding and never freaking out on me. she always knows the exact right things to say to me to make everything all right. she is loving, caring, and bebeautiful. i am so blessed to have someone as wonderful as her in my life and would never trade her for anything.
