In this photo Carol Alt looks great, except for the fact that she’s not wearing a shirt! I’m not sure what she was thinking – could she have imagined that her bustier constituted a top? The sad thing is that everything else about her outfit is classic and understated. As an homage to Alt’s bra-as-top, I selected the Bow-off Tank for its strategically placed black bow. I paired it with the high-waisted Studio 54 Jeans and the En Trenched With Style Coat. To complete the look, I selected the Style Thesis Bag and the Well Heeled Black Heels.
What do you think? Can Alt get away without a shirt? You already know what I think.

Wow great Modcloth version! The original is just no.
I don’t think the bustier is that bad.
That outfit she is wearing is horrid, Love the modcloth version!
LOOOVE the Mod version… so chic and young at the sane time.
I think it depends on how you look at the outfit and where it’s worn.
If you don’t know its a bustier; it just looks like a sexy top. The coat does well to hide that fact.
But knows it’s a bustier, it feels like she was in a rush out the door and forgot to put her shirt on.
And with the context, it depends on where she is. Like if you saw her in Wal Mart shopping for groceries, or at a high fashion show where it’s seen as bold and stand-outish.
If she were wearing it with a skirt, it would have made a big difference.
OK, I can say this because I have it far worse than she does: Carol is in post-partum tummy denial! I think the only reason she went with that top is that she forgot how unforgiving a camera can be! …and to be perfectly honest, I really don’t care how flat and unblemished a woman’s tummy is… tuck it in!!! I also get lured by some of the younger-women styles out there, but as Modcloth stated, our wisdom dictates that we try to keep it classic and understated. Trenches and the Studio 54 Jeans are a perfect example of that!
