You may be surprised to learn that many ModCloth models are girls we’ve bumped into at parties or cute friends of friends, instead of people pursuing the profession full-time. So, we’re continuing our ongoing segment to help you learn a little more about them: who they are and what they like to do when they’re not in front of the camera.

We’re starting with Amy, who’s graced quite a few of our product shots and look books lately.

Amy wanted to model and act ever since she was little. Her modeling career began at age 18, when her aunt submitted her photos to Whirl Magazine’s local model search. She was a finalist, and signed with a talent agency afterward.

She graduated from IUP with a degree in Communication Media, and is currently nannying, modeling and job hunting. Amy became one of our models by responding to an ad posted on Craigslist. “I am ALWAYS on Craigslist,” she told us. That’s how she discovered her nannying job, too! And aside from ModCloth, she also models for local designers and high fashion shoots with local photographers.

Besides continuing to model, Amy has also begun to pursue her other interest, acting, by looking into acting schools. But, she is leaving her future open-ended. “Ahh, I am at the point in my life where I need to figure that out, but I don’t want to!” she told me. She plans to stay involved in the fashion industry, and maybe even develop her interests in event planning and travel, too.
