‘Just for Kicks’ Contest Winners

Last week we combined two of our favorite things, shoes and a Name It and Win Contest, to create the super-fun  ‘Just for Kicks’ Contest. Thank you to everyone who suggested a name. We wished we could pick about five winners for every single  shoe, but sadly, there could only be five winners total.  And here they are!!

For Day 1, we chose the Opulent Oddment Oxfords named by Miranda. What can we say? We love alliteration.

The bright, fun sneakers from Day 2 demanded something equally effervescent. We loved Emily’s Juno reference in her winning name, Honest to Blog Hi -Tops!

Congratulations to Jessie, who nailed the fun and colorful personality of Day 3′s summers sandals with the Sidewalk Chalk Wedges.

Could there be a more perfect name for Day 4′s rainboots than the Raindrops on Roses Boots?? Congratulations, Amber Riley!

Finally, Helen knew what she was doing when she suggested Know the Ropes Espadrilles for Day 5′s sexy wedges!

Congratulations to these five clever ladies who will get the shoes that they so wonderfully named in their size! And thanks again to everyone who participated! Stay tuned for more fun contests!

Juno reference = Don’t you think you would get sued? Copyright infringement?

  2. Sloane 05/04/2009 at 11:46 am #

I dont think theyd get sued….only cause they say its a Juno reference

That is if the words “Honest to Blog” isn’t copyrighted by the writer. Cause I don’t ever think I’ve heard someone say “Honest to Blog” in my entire life, and the writer was some mid-life’d crisis woman trying to think up witty words for teens to say, even though I personally, and others would never use them in our life.

congratulations girls :) wear those shoes well!

  5. Katie 05/04/2009 at 12:10 pm #

Ha! I KNEW the raindrops on roses name would win. I read through a lot of them and that one was just the best.

Honest to Blog- I gues its true that noone would say that but its still a cool shoe name… its different
    :)

they won’t get sued. the success of the film turned a lot of the phrases into cultural references.
plus, diablo cody (the writer) would probably love the promotion.

i think it would be great (and helpful for upcoming “name it and win it” contests) if you could tell us which names were also in the running.
i’d love to find out a little more about the selection process and your opinions on some of the names that did not make it. i can hardly imagine how you narrow down nearly 600 names to just one!

  12. Anna 05/04/2009 at 2:13 pm #

i agree with the above comment. itd be great to know what you thought of other inputs. i read through a lot of them and found that many of them were great!

  13. Alicia 05/04/2009 at 3:33 pm #

Tali and Anna: Thanks for the input! It often comes down to three or four names that we think it will be IMPOSSIBLE to choose between. One may be witty, one may be cute, one may allude to some book or film that is dear to our hearts, but in the end, it comes down to our gut. In the future, we’ll be sure to publish some of the runners-up as well!

It would be nice to post the runners up. I really wanted to win…too bad. Congrats to the winner’s thought. I especially like the names choosen for day 3 and 4.

To the above reference to Diablo Cody being a ‘mid life’d crisis woman’ –
    …um…
since when is being in your 20s and writing a screenplay about a teenager a ‘mid-life’d crisis woman’ thing?

  16. Laura 05/04/2009 at 9:04 pm #

    Congrats to the winners!
