Working with so many beautiful garments on a daily basis, it has been difficult for me not to get jealous of my female co-workers who get to wear these marvelous ModCloth pieces in and out of the office. But considering the recent menswear trend in women’s fashion, I began to wonder if maybe I just needed to be more open minded to the possibility of some of our pieces working for a guy, too. Hence, I have invented the Unisex-y blog! For this series, I will comb our catalog and then feature an item that’s PH balanced for a woman but may appeal to a man as well!
This week’s featured article of clothing is the Best Dressed in the West Vest.
Continue reading to find out how we styled this vest for a man and a woman.
I’ve had designs on this vest since it first hit our wardrobe rack because, as a fan of western-inspired clothing, it reminded me of something the Earps might wear as they lay down the law in the wild west city of Tombstone. I’ve decided to go galloping with this theme by combining the vest with slim black pants, a hickory-striped seersucker shirt, grey cowboy boots, and finishing off with a black paisley neckerchief for a look that I could wear to the office or to an alt country concert. To achieve a more feminine look with this vest for Hannah, we’ve taken a folkier approach by pulling the vest over the Sheer as Folk Top and combining with the lovely Rose Trellis Skirt, the slick Black Mamba Flats, and accessorizing with the avian World Peace Earrings and the matching When Doves Cry Ring for an ensemble fit for frolicking through fields of tall grass or singing songs in Washington Square Park.
Is there a ModCloth garment that you think would benefit the wardrobes of both a man and a woman? Are there items that our gentleman friends and readers are already wearing? Let us know!

I’m such a fan of BOTH looks! I’d prolly wear both (only, y’know, the guys’ pants would be in.. my size…), no joke.
I think that something simple like the Ranchess Blouse could go both ways; as for other vests, maybe the Dude Ranch or the Ziggy vest?
Hi Charlene, thanks for the suggestions. I will keep those and similar items in mind!
