We’ve held many ModCloth contests, but this one takes the cake as “the most absolutely difficult to judge.” How can you choose between so many inspiring stories? You all moved us with your tales of personal change: discovering your true self, falling in love, battling life-threatening diseases, becoming a mother, defying peer pressure, and more. After a tough and agonizing decision, we are at last ready to announce the two finalists of the Terrific Transformations Contest… Congratulations to “Tewosret” and “Shar”!
Links to the two finalist’s entries are below. Be sure to vote in the poll found at left to decide who should win the final prize of a guest blog spot on ModLife and a $100 ModCloth gift certificate!
Thank you all so much for sharing your transformations with us!

Both are very good entries..it’s hard to decide! :)
very brave, girls! thanks for sharing and best of everything to you.
Wow. These are both really great transformations, and I wholly commend Tweosret and Shar for being comfortable enough to share.
Also, I have to say, these are both really serious issues that absolutely and definitely need to be talked about more, and in realistic ways: anorexia is portrayed only in really extreme cases in the media because someone who is 5’8″ looks “less shocking” than someone 5’1″ with anorexia; domestic violence is disturbingly and overwhelmingly unreported.
Weighing the options, I have to vote for Shar’s entry, based on the absolute heart-wrenching simplicity of “I learned how to ride a bike.”
Love Love Love, and keep up the strength!
No matter what, Modcloth may want to consider rewarding both of these ladies for sharing their brave stories.
Both stories are so, so good— can’t believe this contest turned so poignant! Both stories are so, so good and I definitely identified with both.
Its was a hard decision but I would go for Anorexia, I can realte to both in one way or another but more so to Ana.
I vote for both to receive something maybe the runner up can get a gift card? But I think Tewosret’s entry deserves the grand prize (1st place). It was very well written and I wish her luck on her battle with Ana.
Tewosrt’s
Hmmm… I can’t decide, both are great. I think they should both get something special.
I agree w/ Blair. VERY hard to decide…I guess I will be biased because I can relate to one more than other. Nevertheless, both are very brave girls, and should be proud of who they are becoming as a result of their trials-they have made it through and will only get stronger and stronger as time heals their wounds. I hope it serves as inspiration for many more others in similar situations. Good luck to both!
Oh, I can’t decide. I think they both should win, really. But walking away from the life you’ve had for 25 years – that takes a lot of guts. That’s a change. But at the same time, kicking anorexia is really hard. So I can’t say. . .
They are both good, but I liked Shar’s better. It was more to the point, believable (not saying they aren’t true, but I’ve never been one for extended metaphors and the whole ‘ana’ thing was a bit too played up for me). Shars was very touching and direct. Good job for both of you!
Both Shar’s and Tewosret’s stories of transformation are spoken from the heart. Congrats to both for telling it like it is and moving forward in a positive direction. Your transformations touch my heart; your stories inspire. My vote goes to Tewosret for complete honesty and guts to speak her mind, for artistic style, and the refreshing way she expresses herself.
I think both of them were amazing but i guess since i have to vote, Tewosret’s entry would be the one id pick
It is so hard to pick. Both are written extremely well. But if I have to pick one … Tewosrt.
I really like Shar’s story, because while Tewosret’s story is well-written and cohesive in a certain way, I just identify with Shar’s story so much. I too feel like I’m just beginning my life now that I’ve left an unhealthy home situation. You know, free. For the first time, I’m actually EXCITED about the future, this unknown, vague thing. So, Shar, go out and continue to LIVE your life. Have FUN. And get a helmet! ;)
Wow, both incredibly moving stories! You are both amazing people.
Come on Modcloth, I think this calls for both to be rewarded, don’t you??
Shar’s story should win! She’s really overcome a lot. Both stories were great transformations, though.
As much as Shar’s story touched my heart and made me feel sincerely sorry for her, I feel as though she didn’t go into dept and tell us what actually happened, as if she was still fishing around it. I feel deep regret about what happened to her, and I think she writes well, but I would have to sya that in my mind, the win goes to Tewosret. Tewosret’s writing was exquisite, her story was fascinating and told so intriquetly her life story without skipping over details and going around the story. She was brutally honest and it was sensational how she over, came this tragic event. A mere 75 pounds at 5’5”!
Tewosret should win. Shar’s lacked much explanation or conclusion. Still a great thing to overcome, though
I commend both girls for sharing a peice of themselves at the same time openning their hearts for us to look in…that is very brave. Their stories show bravery, and just how strong we as women can be..if we open our hearts and look inside we will find ourselves. I find it hard to vote but I think I am gonna have to vote for Shar.
Good Luck to both of you and continue your fight!!
I vote for Shar.
I vote for Tewosret!
wow. how to choose? i hope both of these lovely ladies get prizes…
i vote for Shar
I vote for Tewosret. Not because I’m biased, but because it somehow reached me down deep, somewhere I didn’t know could be touched by someone I hardly know.
both girls ‘deserve’ it… i’m sure modcloth can find “TIE” in the rulebook, look in the section under bravery, strong will, Courage and Action.
This is tough! Both deserve a first prize… But I still think I’ll vote for Shar.
Tewosret
Shar’s story by a mile!
SHAR should win. The other one I didn’t even get all the way through, too over the top for my taste (and too high school).
Shar, you deserve it!
they both should get something. i feel shar should take the 1st place prize
My vote is with Shar.
Tewosret, so inspiring and such an important message for all young girls
I’m going to have to say Tewosret…I myself can personally relate to this story and it’s one everyone needs to hear
tewosret
Shar.
Shar
Tewosret
wow! thanks to everyone who voted. Modcloth listened to everyone and created a second prize and I won that! Thank you so much! I didn’t even know I was up for nomination. I don’t blog much and I’m currently in school so I had very little time to check this blog. I want to say thank you to Modcloth for choosing my story. I honestly didn’t think I would win. However, I challenged myself to write that, it was extremely hard which is why it wasn’t as indepth…there are 25yrs worth of pain that I already lived it and I’m glad to just move on and look to the future. .
