Romper, onesie, one-piece, jumpsuit, jumper, barboteuse, or playsuit? There may be a debate about how to classify these one-piece wonders, but one thing is for sure: they are one versatile, trendy piece that is here to stay!

The romper craze has been spotted all over the globe from street styles to a variety of celebrities that includes Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley, Ashley Olsen, and Rihanna! With the allure of knocking an outfit out with one garment instead of two (such as wearing a tee and shorts), the recent re-invention of the romper provides us with a fresh new look and a playful alternative to the dress. Take a look below to see how our stylist, Vasil, has put together four different outfits incorporating rompers, in addition to giving his own styling advice and commentary on how to rock the romper!

Keep reading to see what these lovely ladies are wearing and for more romper styled outfits!

(Left) On Turi: Dirty Martini Romper, Snowfinch Headband, The Sonnets Charm Bracelet, Editor-in-Chief Bag, Betsey Johnson Open Heart Socks, Bibliophile Heels

Vasil: The Dirty Martini Romper is a fun garment that enables confident women to show off their Tina Turner legs while looking classy and reserved.  Moreover, the romper is a look that demands minimal accessories, and on the hottest of summer days, doesn’t require a lot of effort to complete a polished look.

(Right) On Amy:  The Sandy Romper, Walking into Spider Wedges, Pinochle Bracelet, Never Bashful Bag, and the soon-to-launch Jigsaw necklace & Buffalo Jill Belt (keep an eye out for it on our New Arrivals page!)

Vasil: Amy’s look is more sophisticated and even office-oriented, especially in professions that are  more forward-thinking and encourage personal style. This outfit features the season’s hottest trends – large jewelry, a wide leather belt, and an ever-so-slight drop-crotch pant. Her look is stylish but also very simple, featuring a combination of brown leather and a touch of glamour with gold accessories.

(Left) On Hannah: Waikiki Onesie, Gold Peacock Feather Tights, Tsarina Necklace, Toulouse Lau-Wedges, The Dublin Bangle, The Lita Clutch in Luna, Head in the Clouds Headband

Vasil: Hannah’s look showcases how patterns can be paired on top of patterns and/or quirky decorative designs, as long as you pay attention to color. In addition to its small print, the Waikiki Onesie features a fully smocked top, which is flattering in that it secretly acts as a corset in the way that it hugs your figure. The peacock feather tights add a touch of whimsy to Hannah’s outfit, enabling her to express her bold personality while remaining the center of attention.

(Right) On Julie: Jade Tree Romper, Finishing School Headband in Amethyst, Petite Peacock Bangle, Costello Glasses, Hi-Top Socks in Purple, Painting with Light Hi-Tops

Vasil: The Jade Tree Romper is a versatile one-piece that will allow you to achieve an effortless and fun look, however you choose to style it. Julie’s outfit plays up the existing colors in her romper while mixing together sporty and classy elements with hipster accessories to create a truly comfortable and unique look.

What do you think of Vasil’s styling? Are these well-rounded rompers? How would you wear them?

I love rompers and have two or three coming in the mail from another source, but I much prefer the “culotte dress” type, the kind that are indistinguishable from dresses when you’d got your legs together, but nice and modest when you’ve got your legs apart for whatever reason (riding bikes, climbing trees, doing cartwheels…). I like them because they look like a dress (I love dresses!) but are better for active pursuits, making them more versatile, whereas if it’s a shorts/pants-and-t-shirt/tank look, basically it’s just shorts or pants that you can only wear one shirt with–less versatile.

That’s my opinion, anyway. I think maybe it’s also partly based on the fact that I don’t think I could pull off one of the rompers pictured above, but I know I can pull off a dress! More power to you if you have the confidence for one of those rompers! :)

Love the looks, except that the last one, with the mid-calf socks and connies just makes her look stumpy. I think that romper would look cute with just flats…

Idk how i feel about rompers. They look really cute and comfortable on the models, but I’m a little curvy and I’m scared to try them out…..
