Style Glossary: Brogue-back Mountian

Our On a Wing and a Pair Shoe in Brogue is a great example of this full-of-character, flat shoe.

This week’s Style Glossary post is all about brogues! A type of oxford, brogues are a heavy walking shoe (originally worn by men) that usually feature a wing tip design, decorated with pinking and heavy perforations. Your dad may consider these golf-shoe-esque in nature, and he’d be right, but they’re also perfect for getting that oh-so-coveted menswear look this winter.

Are you batty for brogues?

What sort of soles do these have? I love the look of the mismatch coloring along with the wingtips. Classic!

brogues in any size are sort of hard to find, especially if the site/store/salesperson doesn’t use the term :(

“an brog” is Irish for shoe or boot!
