ModCloth Buyers Sari, Lindsay, and Susan travel to Paris for Who’s Next
It’s January, and that means tradeshow season for spring and summer is in full swing! Our ModCloth buyers kicked off 2010 with trips to FAME in New York City, traveled on to Bread & Butter in Berlin, and then hit up Who’s Next in Paris for the first time!
To be a ModCloth buyer is to have a job a lot of us dream about: traveling to tradeshows in exciting cities, and buying a vibrant variety of clothing, shoes, and accessories from all over the world.
Get the inside scoop on what our buyers have been up to this month after the jump!
Street art in Berlin
This was ModCloth’s second time traveling to Bread & Butter in Berlin! The show was held in the now non-operating Tempelhof Airport, where old airplane hangars were transformed into showrooms, old waiting areas into restaurants, and the tarmac filled with exhibitor tents. At the show, Susan, Sari, and Lindsay found more amazing must-haves that are difficult to find in the U.S. (including garments from the Sugarhill Boutique line). They also bumped into one of our favorite designers, Jeffrey Campbell, while they were there. Psssst: ModCloth is working on exclusive designs with Jeffrey Campbell (stay tuned!). After a long day of combing the tradeshow booths, Susan, Sari, and Lindsay explored the streets, shops, and restaurants of Berlin. Susan also had the opportunity to practice her German!
A Bread and Butter booth bursting with rainbow bright color!
Next on the agenda was Who’s Next in Paris! Susan, Sari and Lindsay were surprised to discover that ModCloth was one of the only U.S. companies at the show (most of the buyers came from Denmark, France, England, Italy, and Spain). When they stumbled upon an entire section of booths that was made up of smaller, never-before-seen lines from England, the UK, and Spain, they fell madly in love! Lindsay even says she’s dreamt of wearing one of the dresses. Get excited!
The Entrance to Who’s Next in Paris
What’s on the fashion forecast for spring/summer 2010? Susan reports seeing a lot of floral-inspired and nautical-inspired garments, gorgeous summer hats, clogs and clog-inspired footwear, and lots of mint and blue!
A marching band and group of flag-waving followers parades through Who’s Next
When they weren’t busy combing over booths, Susan, Sari, and Lindsay took some time to visit the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the catacombs. They also had a blast tasting classic French dishes, such as crepes, and a few new ones, such as escargot!
Sari and Susan enjoy delicious crepes!
We are so excited about bringing you more amazing and exclusive garments, shoes, and accessories you won’t be able to find anywhere else in the U.S.. Keep a lookout for their arrival this spring and summer. We hope you like them as much as we do!

Ooo, this makes me so anxious to see all the new goodies! Can’t wait! Also – I can’t stop looking at the rainbow colored jar display in the booth from Bread and Butter. I don’t know what they were selling, but I’m buying it.
I was staring at that, too, Natalie, and have come to the conclusion that they’re jars full of gelatin. But that could just be my stomach speaking.
Super cute pic guys!!!! So jealous!
How about the entrance to ‘Who’s Next’ in Paris looking like a real life version of the Rainbow Road from Mario Kart?!!
