Outfit of the Week: This Post Is Sponsored By the Letter “S”

This week’s edition of Outfit of the Week is brought to you by the letter ‘S’ — as in sequins, studs, stripes, and, of course, me — Sarah! Still, when it came to finding a model for this post, I knew it had to be our fabulous Traditional Media Coordinator and reigning ‘Sequin Queen,’ Aire, who was kind enough to spill how she manages to fit a little sparkle into her everyday ensembles.

“When it comes to clothing, I’m like Jekyll and Hyde, ” she said. “I have two personalities — there’s the shiny rocker side, which tends to come out in the winter, and the bohemian side, which is more my spring/summer self. But I love studs, sequins, and rhinestones, so this outfit gave me the opportunity to combine them!”

Aire has an uncanny talent for styling sequins, as seen in her completely day-appropriate ensemble.  I especially love the headband she crafted from the studded strap of her Jeffrey Campbell boots!

Looking to add more sequins to your own workplace wardrobe? Aire advises starting with a sequined piece and build your outfit from there. “Some people find sequins intimidating, but if you work with the sequins instead of against them, it’s a lot easier to style,” she said. ” Sure, they can be formal. But they’re so much fun and shouldn’t just be kept for dressing up! For instance, I could have worn the top and boots with jeans and it would have been totally cute — but the skirt just took the outfit to another level!”

In this outfit: Time is Precious Watch, Backstage Boots, The Faux Fob Shirt, The Sequin-tially Essential Skirt, Where’s My Shred At? Cardigan

About Sarah

Who would have thought the little girl in the oversized Goofy t-shirt would grow up to become a fashion writer? Definitely not young Sarah; she was too busy daydreaming about becoming a ninja. A native New Englander, Sarah's goal is to one day own a lake or beach house -- she changes her mind daily. She has a mean curveball and once tried out for the Olympics. She loves pretty purses, going to baseball games, and will go to extraordinary lengths for chocolate. She has an MFA in Creative Writing and a Bachelor's Degree in Awesomeness.
