A little creativity goes a long way when it comes to re-styling your wardrobe for the winter, which Melanie of Idée Géniale clearly knows. When I stumbled across her picture, something looked familiar… The Hours Dress! That floral frock had been hanging out in my closet for weeks, and I had yet to figure out how to fashion it for the forty-degrees-and-below weather — until now!
I absolutely love the idea of taking lightweight cotton frocks and turning them into jumpers. Skillful layering is key to braving the elements while also looking elegant, which she accomplished by donning a white blouse underneath her posy-printed piece, then adding inky black tights, a woven belt, and the most adorable taupe heels ever seen! The end result is effortless, exquisite, and provides more warmth than the darling dress would have alone.
Do you have any special styling tips that keep you looking sleek and chic when the weather’s less than cooperative? Oh, and P.S. If you got the reference in the title of this post, I <3 you.

Who DOESN’T love Big Pun and Fat Joe?
The title of this post is matched in awesomeness by the styling of Melanie’s flawless ensemble!
I don’t wanna be a layer no more! :)
I love this dress! And the way Melanie styled it!
I love how she styled this piece!
cute! i love dresses and tights more than anything in the world!
well, I love cake a little bit more.
but you can’t wear cake in the winter…..or can you????
I’ve only ever heard the Incubus version of Still Not A Player, but my best friend and I LOVED quoting that song.
I get the reference! And I love the reference as much as I love this lady’s outfit. Which is a lot.
amazed by the cultural reference! but i still wish it was this instead: “I’m not a layer i just frock a lot”
Super cute look, summer dresses are especially cute in winter.
So glad I got this dress–now a new way to wear it!!
