Down by the Bay

It may be a rather dreary day down by the bay, but there’s nothing to stop you from brightening up the landscape with your wardrobe selections! This adorable ensemble captures so many things I love in an outfit — bright contrasting colors, neutral contrasting colors, lacy tights, cute sea creatures, and cardigans. Hope from Pansy Lane started with our Shades of Summer Skirt, and then carefully crafted a look that’s a bold exploration in contrasts. Her red cardi draws out all the vibrant hues from her skirt, while her black top and lacy tights balance out the look. A brass octopus necklace adds nautical whimsy, while reddish brown brogues give the look a sexy librarian edge. I love how the different elements of this outfit play against each other. It’s a look that’s bold, yet somehow also demure.

For a fun spin on Hope’s style, try layering our Be Teal My Heart Cardigan over our Bespoke Tee, then add our Under the Blacklight Skirt, V is for Vixen Tights, and Oh, the Places You’ll Bow! Heel. Top it all off with your choice of our My Pet Octopus or Gnarly Gnarwhal necklaces, and you have a picture-perfect look for the pier.

I have this skirt and LOVE it; one of my favorite ModCloth purchases. I sometimes wear it with opaque teal tights that match the blue/teal in the skirt: streamlined with pop!
