Tales from the Road: The Windy City

Last week, Buyers Lindsay and Sari, and Purchasing Specialist Christine headed to the Windy City for ModCloth’s first Chicago trade show! Between picking out new autumn accessories and exploring the city, our intrepid buyers took photos from their trip to share with you all.

Held in the city’s famed Merchandise Mart, the STYLEMAX trade show showcased more than 4,000 different sellers, which meant very long days for Lindsay, Sari, and Christine! Sari wouldn’t spill too much about what they left the show with, but says to get excited for the debut of new brand  Rü Time, the sister brand of Nümph, on the ModCloth site soon!

After the trade show, our team explored the charming Wicker Park district, stopping at vintage mecca Lenny & Me. This kitten kitsch display, they say, was too cute not to share!

After a delicious meal at Orange…

Our team made a requisite pit stop at Reckless Records, before sampling some live sounds at the soft opening of the Beauty Bar.

“The Beauty Bar opening was fun – the venue was so new it still faintly smelled of paint!” says Sari. “The Wave Pictures played a great set, and the singer’s adorable accent and charming stage banter (yes, I have a big crush ) made the performance even better!”

All in all, a successful trip!

I love Chicago, wish I would’ve known you were going…..I have some great tips for thrift stores in unexplored areas on the west side! Wicker Park/Bucktown is my favorite neighborhoods in the city! Next time try Earwax…great veg and vegan dishes and the seating is all vintage Knoll saaritan (sp?) chairs in every color!
