If the beautiful spring weather isn’t enough to get you off that couch, this DIY project is just the ticket! You won’t be able to sit still with your very own homemade CD disco ball dangling from your ceiling!
It’s easy! It’s fun! And, it’s oh-so worth it. Ready? Let’s decorate the groovy way!
CD Disco Ball
What you’ll need…
- Unwanted CDs
- Styrofoam ball
- String or wire
- Hot glue gun
1. Chop, chop! Cut your CDs into small squares. Don’t worry about them all being the same size–disco has no rules! Also, don’t forget to save your non-square scraps to fill in any holes.
2. Grab the Styrofoam ball, hot glue, and your wire or string of choice. Coat the end of the wire in hot glue and slide it into the ball. If you chose string, use something pointy like a pen or chopstick to poke a small hole in the ball. Run your string through the ball and knot it at the bottom. Loop the other end of the string so you can hang it when you’re done.
3. Get your glue on! Start by making a sort of equator with your squares, gluing them iridescent side up, then build off of that until the entire ball is covered. If some of the squares have a cool design or color on the other side, make your disco ball unique by gluing that side up!
4. Give your disco ball its finishing touches by filling in any holes with oddly shaped scrap pieces of the CDs.
Now, find a place to hang your magnum opus and get the music bumpin’! Easy, right? If you try this out, let us know! We’d love to see the artistic choices you’ve made!
