Meet Alexa

In addition to Winston and his crew of adorable dogs, the ModCloth Office and Distribution Center is full of awesome employees who deserve the limelight! Today, we bring you our first employee feature. Meet Alexa, our musical Customer Care Post-Sales Associate!

Name: Alexa
Hometown: Pittsburgh, PA
Can’t live without: A pair of tan cowboy boots
Summer plans: Roadtrip through California and beyond in “a mobile recording studio” with friends/fellow musicians
Favorite musicians: Everyone from Fever Ray to the Beastie Boys to Philip Glass

When Alexa’s not working at ModCloth, teaching yoga, or overseeing Sandwich Zine, she can typically be found writing, recording, and producing her own music.

“I think of myself more as a music and sound artist than a musician,” said Alexa. “If you’re passionate about your music, it should evoke something in listeners, which is what I hope to do.” Her disparate influences are evident in every harmony-heavy track, as is her quirky sense of experimentation with recording techniques, production styles, and instrumental/voice composition.

Alexa’s currently working on a new album, featuring around 15 tracks, which she hopes to release this summer. Her first self-released solo album, Bitter-Enders’ Engagements, is currently available for download through iTunes and CD Baby (and personally, I highly recommend it!). Alexa’s also apart of Whimsey & Dabbler, an awesome instrumental-only project with tons of sweet jams!

For more information on Alexa’s awesome music and art, check out her website or MySpace! You can also look through her favorite ModCloth products — including the DJ Fashion Headphones, pictured above!

Alexa, I’m doing a very similar thing – recording my own music! :o) What do you use to record? I got Logic Studio 9 not long ago – which is so great, so I’m very program based (still on a big learning curve). Checked out your stuff, love it! So easy to listen to!
