Ever thought about breaking into the music video biz? Directors, producers, stars — they have some of the coolest gigs out there (next to being a ModCloth writer, of course). But what does it take to get your musical masterpiece into the media? Thanks to Genero.tv, all you need is your own creativity, and a little luck!
Lately, record labels have been crack-a-lackin’ down on so-called “fan videos” (which is sad, because I’ve seen some truly amazing fan-made videos that will trump anything MTV currently plays). Genero has stepped in to bridge the legal gap, connecting creative, ambitious, and all-around awesome fans with the people behind their favorite music. Here’s how it works:
- Genero hooks up with a record label or artists’ representative.
- A contest is posted on Genero.tv featuring one song from a band or artist.
- You get a good night’s sleep, then let your creativity run free, resulting in an awesome video for that song.
- Upload and submit your video to Genero, then let other fans and industry reps pick a winner!
You can check out the full list of competition rules and regulations here, but in the meantime, sit back, relax, and enjoy this fan video for Casiokids’ “Finn Bikkjen”! I’m also a fan of this video for Bridezilla’s “Beaches,” but what are your favorites?
