Ancient Industries

If you never make it out to the museum as much as you’d like, then consider Ancient Industries your weekly history fix. This sparse but smart little blog posts images of cultural artifacts from Western history, and then classifies the objects as either “living” or “extinct.” With posts on everything from the Victoria sponge cake (“Living… Named after the Queen, who was evidently fond”) to 15th-century illuminated manuscripts (“Extinct… Decline not entirely due to (but not helped either) by Kindle”), what the blog will talk about next is always a surprise!

About Jenn

Jenn's first career aspiration was to be a dinosaur. After her kindergarten teacher informed her that couldn't happen, she decided she would be the next best thing: a writer. Aside from writing, Jenn loves chambray shirts, all cacti, and good typography.

Oooh, how neat. I’m a sucker for historical stuff and the other oddities they seem to feature.
