Meet Shawn, a volunteer firefighter and the guy everyone at ModCloth runs to when their computer starts freaking out.
Name: Shawn
Position: Infrastructure
Hometown: West Alexander, PA
Favorite Food: Lasagna
Hobbies: Fishing and family
I met Shawn on my first day at ModCloth, when I wondered why I was unable to log into my computer. He quickly and without ridicule solved my problem — which turned out to be me, incorrectly typing my password. I knew right then that he was awesome.
Not only does Shawn put out fires around the office as part of the Infrastructure team — “Whenever something happens, I’m usually there” — but he actually puts out fires as a volunteer firefighter in his hometown of West Alexander.
Coming from a family of emergency service professionals, Shawn jumped at the chance to help out his community when looking for a new activity. On call 24 hours a day (when he’s not working an hour away at ModCloth’s Pittsburgh offices), Shawn finds it easy to commute to the fire hall, from which he lives just across the street. “In the past year, I’ve seen eight structure, four car, and six brush fires. It’s the ultimate adrenaline rush.” At the end of the month, Shawn will finish up his Firefighter I training, which includes skills such as CPR, hose handling, and driving the truck.
When he’s not setting up new employees, solving network problems, and installing various systems in ModCloth’s office and distribution center, Shawn enjoys hanging out with his three brothers, sister, and his pet rottweiler, Jasmine. He also furthers his adrenaline habit by riding bulls — he’s cleared eight seconds!

He is basically our ModSuperhero! Shawn saves my computer on the daily!
It seems that every time I talk to Shawn I learn something new and amazing about him!
Wow. I like meeting the staff at ModCloth. Shawn seems like such a nice guy. Very nice to meet you. I think it’s great you volunteer as a Fire Fighter. My grandfather was a Fire Chief and my uncle is a Fireman – I truly love you guys and appreciate everything you do to keep us safe. It’s a hard job and someone’s gota do it – just like fixing computer problems.
So fun to meet the staff…especially someone as cute and helpful as shawn ;)
What a cutie! Also, riding bulls? That’s wild crazy fun, even if I’ve ever only been on mechanical. :P
