Themes are fun. A few weeks ago, a few of us writers started brainstorming various themed lists of band names. One that we couldn’t wait to share was “Bands with Names Inspired by Mythical Beings.”

From the depths of legends and fairy tales, these six bands have fantastic names or songs inspired by mythical beings. Enjoy!

So excited you posted this!!!! Mythology is one of my favourite subjects, but, sad to say, until now I’ve never thought about categorizing mythologically based music. Coincidentally, though, I’m listening to “Rabbit Hearted Girl” by Florence and the Machine right now. It’s mostly a Alice and Wonderland themed song, but it definitely makes references to Midas’ golden touch too.

There’s a French “death metal band” called Manimal. Does an eight-episode TV show about a shape-shifting doctor count as a mythical being?
