Hey Good-lookin’, Whatcha Got Cookin’?

The sultry dog days of summer have arrived, and what better time than now to move the kitchen outdoors and heat up some hot dogs of your own! Barbecuing is an event that can be enjoyed by anyone, young or old, big or small, and male or female. That’s why I decided to feature the All Up in My Mini Grill as this week’s Unisex-y item!

Whether you argue that the charcoal briquettes should be stacked in a pyramid or spread out in a single layer when being lit, we think everyone will agree that Returns Specialist Jess’ piecing together of her outfit was a job well-done! She started with the fiery red Frankly, I Don’t Give a Dress, and then garnished that with practical and pretty Remixed Apron to guard against any splatters.  Jess then decided to treat her feet to the refreshingly retro Andes Heel.

When I’m searing — either under the sun or at the grill — I find seersucker to be a suitable fabric, so I cooked up an ensemble with this hickory striped type of shirt as my base. To balance out the brightness of Jess’s outfit and the grill itself, I kept my look more subdued with grey denim jeans and grey boots.

And, because we know how hard it can be to wait for those briquettes to turn ashy, we decided to include the Tong Song in our arsenal of cookout tools. When it’s not in use flipping burgers or picking up grilled veggies, it can be utilized as a phony karaoke microphone as a fun distraction!

How about you, readers? What’s the most perfect BBQ outfit you could put together?

About Richard

Richard finds style inspiration in an assortment of historical figures, musicians, and movie characters, including Doc Holliday, Tracy Pew, Han Solo, and El Topo. When not tapping at the computer keyboard for ModCloth, Richard spends his time playing music and dreaming of composing the perfect soundtrack to an epic gothic western film set on a distant, dusty planet, where the cowboys ride rocket-powered motorcycles instead of horses.

You both look so summer-y! Richard, I’m all about the seersucker, and I’d wear one of the Miss Issippi dresses to coordinate with you.
