Let me introduce you to Taylor of the blog Sterling Style! She manages to balance a career while blogging, working out, and cooking up a storm. You’ll love her effortless, feminine style and her positive outlook on life. Read her interview to find out what inspires her style, and get a few tips on dressing for the daily grind. Who are your style icons? What else inspires your sense of style?
My style icons are Ashley Olsen, Diane Kruger, Chloë Sevigny. I am inspired by so many things. I tend to get ideas from magazines, street style, and my friends.
What blogs do you follow?
Too many. I love: A Cozy Kitchen, La Mia Vita, Cupcakes and Cashmere, B Jones Style, and Lucy Laucht (just to name a few).
You have a day job at a financial services firm. How do you add zest to your outfit while still looking professional?
I admit I don’t always look super stylish at work. I don’t like to spend too much money on work clothes. So, I buy staples like black slacks, day dresses, and silk blouses that I can mix and match through out the week. When I want to spice it up, I will wear something like a cute vintage skirt, a lace top, and heels.
If you could live in the pages of a book or on the set of a movie, which book or movie would it be? Why?
One of my favorite movies is this quirky and beautiful piece called Amélie. I love the characters and the romance. I would love to spend some time in that movie, but I would never want to live anywhere but right here.
What would the perfect romantic date be for you?
I am a pretty easy-going girl. All I want is good wine, good food, and great company. Where and when does not matter.
When you’re not blogging, what are your other hobbies?
I started baking more recently, and love it. I am trying to do more cooking, but baking is a lot more relaxing for me. I also like to try raw, vegan, and gluten free options. I also work out, volunteer, and shop. I should be a professional shopper.
Health and fitness seem really important to you. Do you have any easy tips for keeping happy, healthy, and well?
It is really important to me. I feel that in the world of fashion blogging fitness and health are often overlooked. I want to show women who love style and fashion that health and fitness should be a part of fashion. I like a woman who is a multi-tasker. Someone who works, shops, has a family, attends events, and also makes time for healthy meals and working out. That is a woman with style. I recommend that women make health a priority. Schedule a day that includes prepared meals, fitness and relaxation, and eight hours of sleep.
Any secret dreams for the future?
Yes, I would love to work on Sterling Style, and my new site due to launch later this year, Theglitterguide.com, full time. I have so much to share, and I would love to take more time to focus on those projects!
