Beauty and glamour, romance and dreams. Pretty flocked paper and style bursting at the seams. These are a few of our favorite things that we can wait to share with you over the next several weeks during the holiday season. Until then, please enjoy this sneak peek into what’s coming up at ModCloth, and indulge in the first chapter of our seasonal stylebook series!
Ah, the holidays – spending time with your nearest and dearest, lively conversation that lingers over hearty, homemade meals, and, of course, giving and receiving gifts. That old adage, “Sharing is caring” never rings truer than during this special season. So, put that premise into practice in our When You Wish Upon a List Contest! Here’s how to…
Create Your Wishlist:
Click the “Wishlists” link at the top of any page. You’ll find it next to the “Loved Items” heart-shaped icon.
Enter a title for your list in the box below “Create a New Wishlist.” Let your imagination run free!
Fill Your Wishlist:
Now, for the fun part – adding awesome items to your lovely list! Find a posh piece you love (the Heirloom Silver Dress perhaps?) and go to either its “Quick Look” or its main page.
Once you’re there, simply select your size, then click the “Add to Wishlist” button (below “Add to Bag”).
To be eligible, your wishlist must be created and emailed to the address above by 11:59 p.m. EST on Dec. 12, 2010.
One wonderful winner will be randomly chosen to receive a $100 gift certificate to help make their wishes come true!
But, don’t stop there! You can also give everyone else a peek into your holiday heart’s desires by clicking the “Share” button, and posting your wishlist to Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, StumbleUpon, or Kaboodle.
And, since you’re such a caring, considerate cutie, you’ve probably already figured out that you can also use wishlists as your virtual gift lists! Keep track by creating lists for “Fab Family Gifts,” “Posh Presents for Pals,” or anyone else you’ll be sharing the holiday spirit with! And if you need assistance with the hard-to-shop-for, don’t forget to check out our Gift Guides.
Now, get started on your wonderful wishlist, and make this season the merriest yet!
UPDATE(12/31) — We’ve found a winner! Read our New Year’s sale post to see if you won!
Looking for a way to style a pair of shorts in this chilly weather? Well, look no further than this darling winter look created by Mandi of Here’s Lookin at Me, Kid. I love the way she paired her stylish high rise shorts with subdued fall hues, a bright floral blouse, and a warm and cozy fur hat. Who says you can’t have the best of both worlds?
It’s safe to say the traditional confines of “denim don’ts” no longer apply in today’s day and age. Acid washed anything has come full circle—the faded dye technique is hip once again, especially in a formfitting romper. Overalls, particularly pairs that are vintage and fitted, are suddenly sexy. And, perhaps most surprising of all, an ensemble of head-to-toe denim isn’t a faux-pas, but rather an exercise in chic styling. We’ve collected a few of our favorite takes on styling denim, be it an oversized chambray button-up worn as a tunic, a pair of simple blue jeans to balance out a busy combination of layers, or the ever-popular pairing of cut off shorts with a vintage tee for a grungy, effortlessly cool look.

For many, the last Thursday of November doesn’t feel right unless it’s spent indulging in borderline gluttony, watching a football game or two, and catching coverage of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
Since 1924, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been an American institution, giving families everywhere the opportunity to sit back, relax, and revel in the spectacle of a larger-than-life inflatable Pillsbury Doughboy, or a Bart Simpson float bigger than the average residential home.
As it turns out, floats were just as over-the-top when the Macy’s tradition began. We’ve complied some of our favorite vintage Thanksgiving Day Parade floats for your viewing pleasure — scroll through to see how much things have (and haven’t) changed over the years!
