Who: Annie of Time Enough for Drums

What: Beaded silk collar

Where:
Estate sale in Kensington, MD

How Much: $5

When I Use It:
“This collar is the perfect spice to any ensemble.  I might be feeling sub-par about what I’m wearing, but when I pop on this collar, it just brings my outfit to life.  I dress it up, and I dress it down.  It’s a wardrobe lifesaver!”

Shopping Tips: “For estate or garage sales, carefully read the listings in the Classifieds section or on Craigslist before you waste gas money on a wild goose chase.  I have gone to some garage and estate sales where the seller simply advertised ‘vintage clothing’ and it was actually just a pile of their old clothes from 2004.  In an estate or garage sale listing, detailed descriptions are the key to success.  If the person listing writes, ‘Women’s vintage fashions from 1940s to 1970s, including hats, purses, and costume jewelry,’ then the seller knows what they are talking about, and is offering up some serious vintage. Once you’ve arrived at the sale, I say just go crazy!  I follow my gut instinct, which usually means I walk out with more than I need, but who can pass up such wonderful gems?”
