The latest jams we’re loving come from you! We have blog reader Aja to thank for this righteous music recommendation, who wrote us, saying, “I came across The Powder Kegs and immediately thought of the ModCloth Blog and all the cool music I have found there! Could you awesome people please check out these awesome people?” Listen to The Powder Kegs, and I think you’ll agree that it would have only been a matter of time before we found out about this indie-folk Philly trio through the music grapevine.

“La Mariposa” combines bilingual lyrics, along with the universal language of an unforgettable melody. Forward to “The Amanicans,” and you’ll delight in a more folksy, ballad-type of tune. Crank “When the Body Tricks the Mind” with your eyes closed, and you’ll find it easy to picture yourself driving down the freeway, windows down, dancing in the driver’s seat. Consisting of three musically-inclined fellows, with Dan Maroti on vocals, guitar, and keyboard, Ryan Dieringer on vocals and bass, and Sam McDougle on drums, The Powder Kegs are hitting all the right notes for a playlist perfect for spring and summer nights with a bonfire and your best company.

Listen to their tunes below, and mark your calendars for March 30, the release of their LP, The Amanicans. Can’t wait? Grab the title track from their Bandcamp page–it’s free! Or, download it straight from the SoundCloud player below.
