Blogger of the Moment: Color Me Nana

Dylana of the blog Color Me Nana takes relaxed skirts and dresses to the next level, making maxis a wardrobe staple. (That’s why we named this dress after her!) This California girl pairs flowing frocks with rocker-worthy accessories to give them an edge and make a statement that’s all her own. Not only does Dylana have style to swoon over, she’s also a talented musician. This blogger is a fashion force to be reckoned with, and you’ll want to read her interview to learn more about what makes her tick, and take a look at her favorite ModCloth picks to get her look.

Who are your style icons? What else inspires your sense of style?
I am really inspired by Ashley Olsen, Kate Bosworth, Kirsten Dunst, Audrey Hepburn, Sally from When Harry Met Sally, Molly Ringwald, Kate Moss, Frida Gustavsson, and fashion editor Joanna Hillman. I am also very much inspired by nature and certain color combinations that catch my eye. Basically, I am inspired by everything and anything. Sometimes I am even inspired by a character I am reading about in a novel that I relate to, like Anne from Anne of Green Gables. There is nothing that doesn’t stir my creative juices and influence what I am wearing [on] a certain day.

What blogs do you follow?

I follow so many blogs that sometimes it is hard to keep track of them all! But I really love:  Late Afternoon, Song of Style, Style Scrapbook, Mode d’Amour, Chic Heroin, Another Day to Dress Up, Jenny From the Block, Fashion Chalet, Fashion Cappuccino, Fashion Bananas, Sincerely Jules, afterDRK, Dress the Way You Want to Dress, Fashion Distraction, Fashionnerdic, Flashes of Style, My Floor is Red, Sterling Style, The Cherry Blossom Girl, Polienne, The Golden Diamonds, This Chick’s Got Style, and a whole lot more!

If you could live in the pages of a book or on the set of a movie, which book or movie would it be? Why?
Definitely a Harry Potter book. I am a total Harry Potter geek. I really wouldn’t mind being a wizard at Hogwarts. It seems so exciting! Haha.

If you could have dinner with anyone in the world
who would it be? What would you eat?
Jane Goodall, because she seems like such a genuinely kindhearted person with such a strong interest in the natural world around her. I really look up to her for her work with the chimpanzees; she is such an inspiration.  I would love to pick her brain. I would eat some Vietnamese pho.

What would the perfect romantic date be for you?
The perfect romantic date would be a long walk along the seashore, hand in hand, with a good, intimate conversation going on. Then we would have dinner during sunset at a little café over hot pizza or something else equally as yummy. Then we would go watch a funny movie afterward and laugh until we cannot laugh anymore.

Do you blog full-time, or do you have a day job? What are your hobbies?

I blog as much as I can in between my work for Volcom as their social media manager. I also dabble into freelance writing and photography. My other hobbies are reading, designing, singing, traveling, hiking, thrift shopping, and practicing the guitar.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was little I really wanted to be a singer like Christina Aguilera or Jewel. I was always running around the house with an imaginary microphone, belting my heart out. I still do the same today, but now I sing just for fun. It is a real passion of mine, and I am happy to share it with my readers on YouTube.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?
Deep down, I am really shy. I’ve always been shy growing up. But once you get to know me, I talk my head off. I am crazy just as much as I am shy!

Do you have any secret dreams for the future?

I dream of running my own fashion-related business (either an online shop, boutique, or website) and traveling the world, gathering inspiration and building my business and brand everywhere I go. I just want to see the world and connect with people in it from all over. My other secret dream is to move and live in New York City. I am head over heels for that city!

Don’t forge to check out all of Dylana’s favorite picks!
