At 80%20, the shoe label’s toe-tappin’ styles are influenced by the even groovier sounds they jam out to in their studio. We asked designer Ce Ce Chin to share a list of tracks you’re likely to find the 80%20 crowd listening to at work!
“It’s important to have music playing while we work, but the music must meet the vibe,” says Ce Ce. “If I need to concentrate on the small details, then I’ll put on what I call ‘Pillow Rock,’ which is old-school Michael McDonald or The Eagles. For the creative flow to move fast, we’ll listen to Antibalas. Then, there are times when I only want to hear completely new things, so I’ll ask the girls in the office to download the latest mixes from Berlin DJs Ryan Elliott and Benoit & Sergio.”
Currently, Ce Ce says she’s obsessing over the Classixx remix of “Psychic City” by Yacht. “The narrative of a city actually being psychic, and the line, ‘I told you your dreams would come true’ is such a great story for a New York moment. I used the track in our Spring 2011 video lookbook.”
