Best of the West Coast: Rainbow Arabia

Why is it that every other band I find out about is from California? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, I’m just in admiration of the amount of talent coming from the Golden State? (I’m a born and raised East Coaster, too.) Headlining that pool of talent is disco house duo Rainbow Arabia. Their song “Boys and Diamonds” combines so many of my favorite musical elements — a danceable beat, uniquely sampled sounds inspired by world music, and a female singer (girl power!).

Speaking of West Coast musical awesomeness, Coachella is going on right now! I’d love to know if you’ve come across a new fave band there, in addition to what you think of Rainbow Arabia!

About Julianne

Julie Since graduating from the "Center for Kids Who Can't Read Good and Wanna Learn to Do Other Stuff Good Too," Julie's aptness for the written word picked up steam like a runaway train. Her journey thus far has been fueled by an adventurous heart, creative mind, and love of breakfast, baking, and bacon. She often makes social situations more awkward than they need to be and loves the word "scrumtrulescent!"

California does tend to get a bad rep. I think if you look deep, and this goes to any place, you’ll find really great stuff! I’m going to look into this band. Thanks!

I saw Rainbow Arabia at a small music”festival” called Eagle Rock Fest. They were so awesome and I’ve been listening to them everyday! Another LA band is Warpaint, They are an all girl band and are so great,,I wish I was able to make it to Coachella to see them.
