I love a song that rocks back and forth between your ears when you have your headphones on. Left, right, left, right… That’s what you’ll experience when listening to the psychedelic indie-rock sounds of Netherfriends. The Chi-town bred band is a little bit Animal Collective, a little bit Modest Mouse, and a whole lot of psych-pop, so if any or all of those descriptions entice you, you’ll want to listen to their standout album Barry and Sherry. One listen is all you need to be assured that you’ve found your new soundtrack for the summer.
Head over to the Netherfriend’s Bandcamp page to hear remixes and other albums, such as Angry East Coast, the first album of frontman Shawn Rosenblatt’s one-song-per-state musical project. While the concept behind this series is, yes, similar to Sufjan Steven’s derailed-but-unforgettable endeavor, it will ‘nether-theless’ be interesting to see the result of Rosenblatt’s journey-inspired songwriting.
Listen to Netherfriends and let us know — have you found your newest music bff?
