As the season’s warm weather encourages young saplings to mature, symbols of growth are more apparent than ever all around us. With the help of our Charitable Giving Committee (CGC), ModEmployees have also been noting changes for the better through several exciting events in April. Check out some of these behind-the-scenes photos for a peek at our tree-themed good deeds!
Each month, our CGC plans volunteer opportunities for ModCloth employees in aims of creating a positive impact within the communities in which we live and work. In honor of Earth Day, a team from our Pittsburgh office partnered with local organization, TreeVitalize, for a sunny Saturday afternoon of tree-planting. Given the increasing loss of trees in Pennsylvania’s metropolitan areas, TreeVitalize is on a mission to help restore tree cover, educate citizens about why this resource is so vital to urban areas, and encourage local governments to protect arborous spaces. We’re pleased to have contributed to their goals — not to mention, our Pittsburgh team totally ‘dug’ having an opportunity to get their hands dirty!
ModCloth also announced its donation of one tree for each of its employees — nearly 250 — via an organization called Trees for Life. Each tree purchased through Trees for Life is planted by a person in a developing country, so their community can reap the rewards of its fruit and shade. In turn, that individual vows to help two other locals plant and grow saplings from their tree’s seeds to help spread this self-renewing resource in a pay-it-forward style.
Each ModEmployee received a tiny tree figurine accompanied by a digital certificate, which reads, “May this tree be a symbol of the roots you’ve lain here at ModCloth, and accompany you as you continue to grow, flourish, and help our ‘forest’ thrive.” As our employees grow individually and professionally, their ‘tree gifts’ will continue to prosper and provide for a community in need.
