You’ve mentioned you draw a lot of style inspiration from blogger friends. Who are some of the gals who inspire you most?
My Style Pill, Sterling Style, Keiko Lynn, B. Jones Style, Atlantic-Pacific, What I Wore, The Glitter Guide, Lucy Laucht, On The Racks, Color Me Nana, Blonde Bedhead, Saucy Glossie, Cheetah is the New Black, This Time Tomorrow, Pretty Shiny Sparkly, Home Run Ballerina, to name a few! I follow so many amazing people that inspire me on a daily basis.
What kind of graphic design do you do?
I graduated with a graphic design degree and a love for all things print. Right now, I am doing a lot of design for the web while my heart really does lie in print design. From posters, to books, to logos, being able to create a company’s identity through design is a powerful and amazingly wonderful process. I studied at a school that taught Swiss design principles, meaning everything was clean, simple, and modern. It’s not a coincidence that I tend to find my style taking on these same descriptions!
You call Philadelphia home. Is this where you’re originally from? What do you think the best-kept secret in Philly is?
Yes! I am originally from the Philadelphia area. I also went to college in Philadelphia, so I have been in this lovely city of brotherly love for quite some time now. So much history lies here, and I love being able to share portions of it through the photos and adventures on my blog. A place I love to bring people is Reading Terminal Market. If you follow me on Twitter (@eatsleepwear) you know that I am a foodie, and this market is a place I often go shopping and eating with my boyfriend! [There's] everything from fresh cheese and produce to my favorite cupcake place, Flying Monkey.
You often rock rad glasses on your site. Have you always felt so comfortable wearing glasses?
I often get asked about my glasses and whether they are real prescription frames. Ever since I was a wee girl, I had eye problems and needed the help of contacts or glasses to see things crisply. It’s nice to see a resurgence of stylish and fun frames hitting the market right now, making it easier for us visually challenged girls to get our hands on something we can feel confident in! Own it!
When I think of your style, I think stripes, polka dots, and lots of color — do you feel your exuberant style reflects your personality?
One hundred percent! I am a person that dresses based on mood and how I feel that day. I see myself as a very upbeat and positive person and my excitement is definitely translated into color and pattern.
You attend quite a few industry events. What would you recommend to bloggers who want to get more involved in the fashion industry?
I think being an active member of the fashion blogging community is a very important element to becoming part of the larger fashion community. What is so great is the support and knowledge you gain from all these incredibly creative and talented men and women. Get involved in style communities! It’s a great way to meet new people and create amazing relationships. You might even stumble across some friends along the way! I know I have.
What’s something most people wouldn’t know about you from your blog?
I have always had a passion for performance. I was definitely a theater geek in high school and proud of it. I could also give you a mean rendition of Lily St. Regis from Annie, but I will spare you that for now.
Now for a random question — what animal would you like to be reincarnated as? Why?
That is an easy one — ZEBRA! So I could be covered in stripes 24/7.
