Announcing a(n) (insert adj.) new ModCloth contest: Thrill-in-the-Blank!

We adore reading your winsome words in the Be the Buyer comments, and we’d love to see even more savvy suggestions, indelible ideas, and fabulous feedback. So, to help you help us, we’ve put together a glam grammar game!

Here’s how it works:

This dress would be perfect to wear out to EVENT with a(n) ACCESSORY, TYPE OF JEWELRY, and TYPE OF SHOES. However, if I could change one thing about it, I’d alter the SPECIFIC DETAIL for a more modern look.

Very, Very Versatile
This is the perfect dress to grab for an impromptu night out at MY FAVE PLACE, yet it also works for a daytime EVENT. It’s a classic DECADE/ERA design, it’s incredibly ADJECTIVE, and really easy to dress up or down! I’d wear this piece in the daytime with my TYPE OF SHOES, and TYPE OF JEWELRY OR ACCESSORY, and deck it out for night with my TYPE OF SHOES, TYPE OF JEWELRY, OUTERWEAR/LAYERING PIECE, and ACCESSORY. If it was up to me, I’d make just one teensy alteration, and that would be SUGGESTED ALTERATION. If that were changed, you’d better believe I’d be out wearing this frock to PLACE/EVENT tonight if I could!

MidCentury Modern
Today is not just another day at the office for me; I have EVENT immediately after work, and no time for a wardrobe change! I come across this dress in my closet and instantly think of how perfect it would be paired with my TYPE OF SHOES, TYPE OF JEWELRY, and ACCESSORY. The SPECIFIC DETAIL of this dress makes it perfect for work when paired with OTHER GARMENT, while its SPECIFIC DETAIL help make dinner and drinks a flirty affair!

Shopping for ‘The One’
This is close to being the dress of my dreams! While its SPECIFIC DETAIL make it perfect for the SEASON, it would also transition perfectly into SEASON with ACCESSORY/OTHER GARMENT. Making this dress absolutely flawless for me would mean altering the SPECIFIC DETAIL and/or SPECIFIC DETAIL.     This is close to being the dress of my dreams! While its length and silhouette make it perfect for the fall, it would also transition perfectly into winter with either a black structured jacket or flowing wrap. Making this dress absolutely flawless for me would mean altering the button on the collar to detach, so I could add my favorite pin or brooch. Then, I’d style this piece to perfection by pairing it with black pumps, pearls, and a French twist!

    Look out, Ava Gardner! This fitted dress reminds me so much of old movies and that big band era. I really love the button detail in the front and the back! This dress would be perfect to wear out to a girls tea at the quaint little shop down the block with white gloves, pearls, and red pumps. However, if I could change one thing about it, I’d add a small split in the back for a more modern look.

    Look out, Sailor Wives-In-Training! This fever-pitch inducing dress reminds me so much of old movies and that classic pinup couture look. I really love the crossbow accent at the back, and the pleats that are positioned perfectly! This dress would be perfect to wear out to a Boardwalk Empire premiere event with a white fascinator, white gloves, and round-toe patent leather pumps with an ankle strap. However, if I could change one thing about it, I’d remove the straps for a more modern look.

    Very, Very Versatile
    This is the perfect dress to grab for an impromptu night out at The Hamptoms, yet it also works for a daytime soiree. It’s a classic modish/swank design, it’s incredibly mouthwatering, and really easy to dress up or down! I’d wear this piece in the daytime with my Louis Vuittons, and Paloma Picasso Pendant, and deck it out for night with my Louboutins, Marie Antoinette Necklace,Silke Waro million dollar coat,Henri Matisse scarf and Ginza Tanaka Platinum Handbag .If it was up to me, I’d make just one teensy alteration, and that would be to Add LocalCelebz label to that million dollar coat. If that were changed, you’d better believe I’d be out wearing this frock to Oprah’s dinner party tonight if I could!

I come across this dress in my closet and instantly think of how perfect it would be paired with my patent navy pumps, a chunky chain necklace, and my favorite bronze drawstring leather cross body. The exposed shoulders of this dress makes it perfect for work when paired with a cardigan, while its gorgeous drop shoulders help make dinner and drinks a flirty affair!

    Look out, GRETA GARBO! This SULTRY dress reminds me so much of old movies and that 1930′S ‘FASHION ERA’ look. I really love the LAVISH LACE OVERLAY, and TIED NECKLINE DONE IN SATIN! This dress would be perfect to wear out to THE THEATRE with a BEADED CLUTCH, RHINESTONE CUFF BRACELET, and SATIN d’ORSAY MARY JANES . However, if I could change one thing about it, I’d alter the BACK TO ADD A PLUNGING BACK for a more modern look.

    Look out, Greta Garbo! This über-femme dress reminds me so much of old movies and that golden 50s look. I really love the solid white trim, and the gold clasp! This dress would be perfect to wear out to a mixer with long white gloves, pearl and white gold choker, and high heel Mary Janes. However, if I could change one thing about it, I’d alter the trim to wrap all the way around even in the back for a more modern look.

    Look out, Hedy Lamarr! This inspired dress reminds me so much of old movies and that classic 1940′s look. I really love the delecate pin closure on the bust, and the way it compliments the white satin outline! This dress would be perfect to wear out to charity ball or stroll down the boardwalk with a simple clutch, dangle earrings, and a pair of patent leather pumps. However, if I could change one thing about it, I’d alter the neck outline to be just a smidgen thinner, for a more modern look.

    Look out, Clara Bow! This hotsy-totsy dress reminds me so much of old movies and that peachy keen 1920’s look. I really love the sassy sequins , and the classy beadwork ! It’s a classic 40′s-50′s design, it’s incredibly classy, and really easy to dress up or down! I’d wear this piece in the daytime with my short black pumps and pearl earings, and deck it out for night with my black and white stilettoes, diamond earings, and white clutch. If it was up to me, I’d make just one teensy alteration, and that would be remove the button or choose a different one – it makes your jewelry choices a little limited. It’s a classic Deco design, it’s incredibly nimble, and really easy to dress up or down! I’d wear this piece in the daytime with my chunky brown boots, and my trusty ModCloth messenger bag, and deck it out for night with my ruby plats, an armload of glittering bangles, my sparkling cardi, and feathery headband. If it was up to me, I’d make just one teensy alteration, and that would be to make it a tad shorter. As you know not every ModHead is a ginormous glamazon. If that were changed, you’d better believe I’d be out wearing this frock to the Buster Keaton Tribute tonight if I could!

I’d wear this piece in the daytime with my polka dot wedges, and red bow hair band, and deck it out for night with my zebra print stilettos, gold bamboo earrings, red neck scarf (tied Fred from Scooby Doo style) , and brightly colored clutch. If it was up to me, I’d make just one teensy alteration, and that would be making it strapless. If that were changed, you’d better believe I’d be out wearing this frock to Swing Dancing at the Green Mill tonight if I could!
