Picture This: Our Stylebook Image Selection Process

Our current stylebook, In with the ‘You’ is a not only an homage to our fabulous fans, but a virtual tribute to art. More than ever before, the photos we selected to use had to be just right, and we had almost two hundred to chose from. How do we pare it all down? Here’s a little glimpse into our thinking process!

“When we select images for the homepage or outfits for the stylebook, there are lots of factors to consider!” says our Creative Director, Molly. “We have to determine if the model looks natural and happy, if the clothing looks stellar, and if the poses will work with the design and copy that will be added in post-production.”

For this stylebook, we were inspired by word poems and bold graphics. Not only did the images have to present our models and outfits in an appealing way, but they needed the space and potential for heavy copy and design. As you can see in the pages of the stylebook, lines of copy were creatively transformed into whimsical props and eye-catching banners.

To give you an idea of what worked and what didn’t for this stylebook, check a few outtakes with notes from Molly herself!

We hope you’re enjoying the stylebook as much as we enjoyed making it!

What a wonderful stylebook! I love fall fashions, but this spring seems to be promising! I love the bold colors and beautiful patterns that are becoming popular again. I can’t wait to apply these styles to my wardrobe!
