Introducing the Style It & Win It Contest!

The ModStylists are the go-to gals whenever you need outfit suggestions, trend tips, and any other sartorial advice. But now they’re asking you to show your skill at assembling lovely looks in the first ever Style It & Win It Contest!

If you adore a challenge, and think you can piece together the prettiest outfit around the pulchritudinous peach dress pictured above, then head over to the ModStylist Facebook fanpage between 9 a.m. PT on 2/6 and 3 p.m. PT on 2/13. There you’ll find a Polyvore mini editor app filled with a variety of Valentine’s Day-themed ModCloth items with which you can create your swoon-worthy ensemble.

Once the contest closes, the ModStylists will select two runners-up to receive a $75 gift certificate, and a grand prize winner to receive a $100 dollar gift certificate, plus this darling dress. Not only that, but the winning outfit will be worn by a ModStylist and included in the images on the featured frock’s product page, with credit for the ensemble given to its stylist!

Smitten with this contest’s concept? Then, please read the details:

  • You must be a fan of the ModStylists on Facebook to participate.
  • You must build an ensemble around the featured dress using only the items within the mini editor app.
  • Contest begins at 9 a.m. PT on 2/6 and ends at 3 p.m. PT on 2/13.
  • You may enter two outfits.
  • Winners’ names and boards will be announced on the ModStylist Facebook page on Valentine’s Day (2/14).
  • Judging will be based on adherence to the rules of the contest, overall style, and use of ModCloth items in a way that reflects your personal style, as well as our aesthetic.

The ModStylists can’t wait to see all the submissions and fall in love with your fashionable outfits. Good luck!

okay, new to facebook, so bear with me. How do I become a fan of the modstylists? Do I just hit “like”? Does my outfit appear on Polyvore automatically if I used the minieditor on the modcloth facebook site? Does it even have to be on polyvore? I could only get the minieditor to submit one outfit. How do I submit the second one? HELP! lol. sorry for my lack of experience with this stuff, but I love the contest!

    • Beth 02/06/2012 at 4:49 pm #

okay, I figured out how to submit the second one, but in the process submitted an extra one. How can i delete the unwanted (which the first) one?

    • Beth 02/06/2012 at 9:24 pm #

okay; i know I seem like a kindergartener on my first day of school but… I hit “Like” to become a fan, my outfits appear on Polyvore, I submitted a second outfit. This is my last question, and I tried really hard to figure it out, but I am stumped. I edited the names on my entries to include a hashtag for the contest, but now the links on the names do not work – they come up “sorry, the page you were looking for doesn’t exist” My name links work, though, so is that okay? Or can you tell me how to link my entry names to my polyvore board?

      Hi Beth!

Thanks for letting us know about the naming error! I think I remember you emailing in about this issue, and you should be okay since the boards will show up in Polyvore as well as in the mini editor’s gallery on our Facebook page. I hope this helps!

HELP!!! I thought I was going to get the mini editor and apparently i submitted and “outfit” without actually submitting anything! I’m so confused on how this works! I couldn’t see any mini editor on facebook so I thought by putting my info on the form below the contest info I would see the mini editor and be able to start my polyvore board, but it just said “We’ve received your information Thank you”. I didn’t have anything to submit! I titled the board “Style it & win it” but I don’t have anything on there! :( And now I try to go back to your style it & win it page and it just says the same message so I can’t see anything! :’( I really wanted to participate in this contest!

It is the same for me! :(

    • Jess (ModStylist) 02/09/2012 at 10:39 am #

      Hi Lisandra!

In order to submit two style boards, you will create your first board and hit ‘Publish’ on the left side of your finished board. You are then able to create a second board – just make sure you hit ‘Publish’ after completing this one as well. Once you complete both submissions, fill out the ‘Submit’ form below the editor. If you already submitted your information and are receiving a ‘We’ve received your information. Thank you!’ message, click on the ‘If you did not sign up yet, click here.’ message under that box. This should take you back to the editor where you will be able to create a new board! If you already submitted your info, you will not need to fill out that portion again – simply create your board and click ‘Publish’ on the left side. If you continue to have trouble, please email us at askamodstylist@modcoth.com!

Is it possible to join if you don’t have a facebook?

    • Jess (ModStylist) 02/09/2012 at 10:38 am #

      Hi Jasmine!

Since the Mini Style Editor app functions through Facebook and the ModStylist fanpage, it is necessary to have an account on Facebook to join the contest. Sorry for the confusion! There will be contests outside of Facebook in the future, so keep an eye out!

    I can’t find the mini-editor – saw it yesterday …………..

  7. Alex 02/07/2012 at 7:03 pm #

Can each entry have 2 outfits on it?

    • Jess (ModStylist) 02/09/2012 at 10:34 am #

      Hi Alex!

You can create your style boards however you wish! If you want to put two outfits on one board, I say go for it! The 2 board submission restriction is in reference to the number of boards not necessarily outfits, so you can submit 2 different style boards in the contest. I hope this helps!

Submitted one entry, but whenever I try to submit a second, it says I’ve already entered my information, and won’t even let me back on the page. Maybe I’ll try again later. :) Good luck everyone, and thanks for the swell contest, ModCloth!

Hi! May I ask if this is this an international contest? Thank you! :)

  10. Carebear 02/09/2012 at 4:03 pm #

I accidentally submitted two of the same entry through an error. Is there any way I can delete one?

  11. Rai Michal 02/09/2012 at 4:26 pm #

What is the app called and where do I post everything?

  12. Stephanie 02/09/2012 at 9:41 pm #

I entered 2 boards, but I cant find them in the gallery, is there a way where I can do an easy search for my entries to make sure they are there? Also, thanks for the contest opportunity! love things like this =)

  13. Jessi 02/12/2012 at 9:58 pm #

Uhh.. did we have to include a hashtag for the contest? I read the rules, I swear! And I didn’t see anything about it, but Beth’s first comment here has worried me…

    • Beth 02/13/2012 at 9:14 am #

I added the hashtags in order to better organize my polyvore board collections.I do not think this is a requirement for the contest.

      • Jessi 02/13/2012 at 10:24 am #

Oh, phew. Excellent. Thanks for the reply!
