Steffy’s blog, Steffy’s Pros and Cons, has been on our radar for a while, and we are so excited to share it with you today. Her colorful and playful ensembles are like sunshine on a rainy day, and inspire us to step out of the grey doldrums of late winter. She’s a student of fashion merchandising, and we’re confident she’ll be a rising star in the industry one day. In fact, she already has her own vintage shop, with awesome items you’ll find featured in her outfit pics. But while her amazing outfit choices might seem intimidating at first, Steffy’s identifiable dreams for the future bring her down to earth.
You call Florida home — are you from there originally? How do you feel living in Florida influences your style?
I was actually born in [New York] and moved to [Florida] when I was 8. Since then I have moved back and forth twice…I LOVE NYC. I am not quite fond of Florida, and think that it doesn’t influence my style much. When it is 75 degrees in the winter, I still wear sweaters. Gotta make sacrifices for style!
When you’re not blogging, how do you spend your time?
I am a full-time student at AI for Fashion Merchandising, and I spend lots of time shopping for vintage clothing to fill up my store with. I also love spending time with my boyfriend. We live in a neighborhood where you can walk everywhere, so we usually grab some French treats and coffee…or go for runs.
Your style is very romantic and vintage-inspired — is there a historical movie or book that you would love to live on the set of or in the pages of?
I would LOVE to live on the set of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Aside from the fact that I LOVE sweets, the sets and costumes are just beautiful. I could watch it a million times. It was such a treat to see it remade, although nothing beats the original.
Who are your style icons?
Twiggy is one of my style icons. She is always put together and perfectly mod.
What are your secret dreams for the future?
I have so many dreams…one of them being to own a house with a backyard in Long Beach, New York with my boyfriend. Then he can wake up and surf and I can run on the beach. One day. I also dream of working as a stylist or a fashion merchandiser for a company that I love. Then I can wake up and go to a job that I love every day. Or, I dream about traveling the country in a ’60s VW van and collecting vintage along the way.
Is there a story behind the name of your blog?
I created my blog initially to make lists. I would list the “pros” and “cons” of every day. It would help me appreciate things and digest hardships. That is where the name came from, although it doesn’t really relate now.
And of course we want to know what your favorite blogs to read are!
I read so many blogs! There are so many inspiring gals on the web! My all-time favorite has always been Flashes of Style. Some other daily reads are Tick Tock Vintage, Lost in The Haze, Jen Loves Kev, Orchid Grey, Fancy Treehouse, Calivintage, Kelli Murray, Strawberry Moth, Sock Monkey and Gee…the list really could go on!
