SprinkleBakes: May’s Book of the Month Giveaway

How can you not be tickled by a name like “SprinkleBakes”? Our current Book of the Month, SprinkleBakes: Dessert Recipes to Inspire Your Inner Artist, is probably one of the sweetest cookbooks ever.  Author Heather Baird, of the award-winning blog, creates more than just delectable delights. Her desserts are works of art, statements of perception. They’re as surprising as they are delicious! Read on to find out how you could win a copy.

SprinkleBakes is a beautifully photographed cookbook that’s as fun to page through as from which to create masterpieces. I’m especially fond of the Sweet Coconut Sushi, and will be making that myself. Creating cookies that look like foods that are so-not-like cookies is such a cool idea! There’s also a rainbow of info on how to make ordinary baked goods extraordinary, like color wheels, construction techniques, and tool lists.

When one of my fellow writers, Julianne, learned that we were getting Heather’s book, she excitedly declared that she’d bake the book’s mushroom-shaped cookies. Don’t be fooled by their appearance — these cookies are crumbly and sweet!

If you decide you must try these fantastical treats, Julie suggests making sure your dough feels like Play-Doh. If it’s dry, just add a little more melted butter. Yes, these sweets include melted butter. They also require you to shape them into the form of button mushrooms, and Julie cleverly used a wine bottle lip as a tool to form the stem. Despite their structure, Julie says that these are amazingly easy to make!  That’s right — you can do it! They’re super dense and rich, so enjoy one at a time with a mug of tea or coffee.

As if things couldn’t get any cuter, you must check out the trailer for this book. All I’ll say is, there’s a pug in it. You know how we love our pugs.

I make everyday meals extraordinaire by adding lots of fresh vegetables and healthy meats , and carnohydrates. I use different spices, becel, different kinds of oil, and sauces to make things that are great tasting. Moreover, presentation is the key – something beautiful and tasty = something to eat that’s extraordinaire.

    This. Is. Magic!

My sister and I love to cook together. We make everyday meals extraordinary by taking regular, ol’ “comfort foods” and making them gourmet. Example: Grilled cheese sandwiches are delicious with plain sliced bread and American cheese slices. Grilled cheese made with brioche and gruyere is a gourmet delight! We also have an obsession with homemade mac & cheese with a few tablespoons of white truffle oil and crushed red pepper. Yum.

I have a basic chocolate chip cookie recipe to which I add vanilla sugar and I also make them about a quarter of the normal size. These two amazingly simple things turn an ordinary recipe into something that wows everyone whenever I make it. In fact my friends have nicknamed them ‘crack cookies’ because they can’t stop eating them!

I recently found a new risotto recipe as well, and improved it with extra butter and Parmesan cheese and well as a dash of lemon juice. I think the key to making an ordinary meal extraordinary is to use plenty of butter and a few carefully chosen spices.

I make everyday meals extraordinary by placing my food on my plate to make it look pretty! It’s so much more fun to eat when your food looks good!

  5. MelodyJ 05/17/2012 at 7:54 am #

I like to play around with different seasonings.

I used brightly colored silverware and dishes every day, which I think helps, but my husband and I mix it up by “switching roles”. HE does the cooking, and I hang out with him when he does it. It’s one of his favorite things to do!

  7. Anna H. 05/17/2012 at 8:17 am #

I like to make an everyday meal, even Easy Mac or cereal, extra special by making a nice presentation. I make sure to set the table and sit down and not multitask while eating. I don’t always get a chance to make a meal from scratch, although I do whenever I can, so acting like anything is made with extra love helps :)

  8. Katie @ Beautifully Pure 05/17/2012 at 8:22 am #

I think it’s all in the presentation. I like to use pretty dishes (vintage Pyrex is the best!) because it makes even the most ordinary meal feel so much more special.

I married a wonderful man from Pittsburgh who grew up with non-cooking parents. When we met, he thought tomatoes were “exotic” and regarded avocados with deep and lasting suspicion. As a California born-foodie, I try to make everyday meals extraordinary by including ingredients he’s never tried or even heard of- kalamata olives, arugula, garam masala. He’s even learned to make a mean minestrone, which I’m pretty sure he thought was some kind of a disease when we met. Trying out new and fun recipes has become a cornerstone of our marriage, and is a great way to show my love of food AND my love of him, all through cooking!

  10. Laura Thompson 05/17/2012 at 8:34 am #

I make every meal extraordinary by making them all VEGAN! Lots of whole grains, colourful fruits and veggies, all arranged to make a pretty picture because vegans LOVE to take pictures of their food. It’s a fact.

  11. Lauren 05/17/2012 at 8:42 am #

By making them vegetarian and using the many different types of faux-meat available.

  12. Sug 05/17/2012 at 8:45 am #

Lots of fruit and vegies. A pretty presentation. And I love watching Rachael Ray because she has helped me turn my old menu into something delicious and beautiful! I’ve learned taking a little extra time to add spices and make a sauce goes a long way!

  13. lynthelazy 05/17/2012 at 8:46 am #

Honestly, the way I make everyday meals extraordinary is by having a great time creating them with the man I love. We have fun trying out different spices in a dish or just cooking foods we love to eat. By doing these tasks together, every meal stays in my memories as extraordinary.

  14. Katrina 05/17/2012 at 8:50 am #

I make every day meals extraordinary by adding love to every dish. I make sure the food is seasoned to perfection and I add extra vegetables to give the meals colour and texture.

  15. Mary Carmosino Beougher 05/17/2012 at 9:03 am #

I make meals extraordinary by using the best ingredients I can find and not being afraid to try new recipes, even if it’s something I’m not sure we’ll like. You never know what’s going to wow your tongue.

  16. Beth 05/17/2012 at 9:21 am #

I love to cook and make up recipes. I make meals extra-special by including as much color as possible! This is done by using lots of veggies and herbs. Also, I try to pair a yummy fruit smoothie with at least one meal every day, using organic soy milk or homemade yogurt (my hubby makes yogurt for us all), fresh fruits, and agave nectar (if needed). As for presentation, I serve my meals in my vibrant red stoneware, including some pieces I made myself using the much loved kick-wheel!

  17. pixelsandlace 05/17/2012 at 9:23 am #

I make meals extraordinary by cooking with my fiance. Yes we actually always cook together. It is a great time to play around especially since we are good at diffident things in the kitchen. I think it makes every meal different and special plus, you have all the love and laughter that went into it as well.

  18. Mandy Blank 05/17/2012 at 9:33 am #

I use fun plates and serving ware. I found these animal face plates that I use for my kids.

  19. Rachael 05/17/2012 at 9:49 am #

I make sure all our meals are extrodainary by making sure we eat at the table – far too many people eat meals in front of the TV. I make sure we take the time out to talk to each other and enjoy our meals together – I think it’s a really important thing to take that time out to talk away from the noise of the TV

  20. Mary Weise 05/17/2012 at 10:02 am #

Good wine and good company make any meal extraordinary :) Also, extra butter always helps!

  21. Brittany 05/17/2012 at 10:16 am #

Two things! One – secret ingredients. I love to add random things that may or may not be a good idea. Taco Bell sauce in the marinade? Yup! (That one worked okay.). Two – fresh herbs! Nothing makes food taste better than a sprinkle of fresh basil or parsley.

  22. Maureen 05/17/2012 at 10:20 am #

I will add Canadian bacon to mac & cheese. I will make popovers for just a plain meal of pasta and sauce. Just something extra that makes me and the others eating the meal smile.

  23. Ashley G 05/17/2012 at 10:33 am #

I cook with fresh ingredients from my herb and vegetable gardens and I always use in season ingredients. I love to make food for my loved ones.

  24. Marie 05/17/2012 at 10:44 am #

My boyfriend and I love to cook together. We go to the supermarket everyday for fresh ingredients, produce, spices, and add our own flair to each dish. We love to add homemade pesto to just about everything: scrambled eggs, omelettes, grilled cheese sandwiches, pasta, and more. We are vegetarians and like to dabble in vegan cooking, using a wide variety of vegetables and complementing their flavours with fresh herbs. A good wine pairing can also take any meal over the top!

  25. Marissa 05/17/2012 at 10:45 am #

Go the extra step and make your own homemade sauce or dip to complete your meal. Whether it’s a BBQ sauce or a horseradish dip, it can make your meal extra special!

  26. paddlemama 05/17/2012 at 10:55 am #

    Burn a candle!

  27. Siobhan 05/17/2012 at 10:58 am #

Me and my boyfriend don’t get to cook much together so I’d have to say making an everyday meal extraordinary is when I visit him at work with dinner and we eat together :)

  28. KatS 05/17/2012 at 10:59 am #

    I love the mushroom cookies!

I add cardamom to pretty much everything. It works with both savory and sweet dishes.

  29. Bree Davis 05/17/2012 at 11:01 am #

I like to add my own twist on things when cooking and baking. I like to try different spices or get creative with what I have in the cupboard. I can look at a recipe and take it apart in my head and figure out a new way to make it. To be honest most of the time it turns out really good. But, when it doesn’t I sure hear the honest truth from my hubby. He’s a pretty good food critic. And, his honesty helps me so I know how to improve it for the next time. :)

  30. Tara O 05/17/2012 at 11:03 am #

I love trying new recipes and perfecting the ones that I regularly make with my family. Getting the kids involved with the process also keeps it interesting. I hope they grow up with good memories of us in the kitchen together.

  31. Mbsweetcakes M.Carmen 05/17/2012 at 11:05 am #

I make meals extraordinary by sharing this moment with my family! We all adore cooking, although my passion is cake decorating. You just have to add your willingness so that every meal becomes the best! :D

  32. mireya 05/17/2012 at 11:09 am #

most of the meals made in my house are from scratch, so if I “have” to make something from instant or from a box I try to make it extra special by adding something fun or fresh to make it less boring.

  33. iwilldrawforfood 05/17/2012 at 11:11 am #

Add fresh flavors like garlic and lemon to make a dish sparkle!

  34. Eva {Not your mama's dinner} 05/17/2012 at 11:20 am #

I add sprinkles to about everything… And if that doesn’t do the trick; pink food coloring will!

  35. Mª Carmen 05/17/2012 at 11:20 am #

Simple things work best when making meals: oils, vinegars, sauces, spices! They add a different touch to any meal.

  36. Jill 05/17/2012 at 11:29 am #

Sitting down to any meal with my kids everyday (even though they are all grown up) is a blessing that makes all food extraordinary…

  37. Angela Willis 05/17/2012 at 11:30 am #

I go the extra mile and try to make sure that everything that I cook or bake is fresh, seasonal, local, organic, pesticide-free and homemade. Its a lot of extra work, but it is definitely worth it. I also put flowers on the table, from the garden, and we also make sure that our evening meal is long and relaxing, spent together chatting and and enjoying each others company.

  38. Ashley F. 05/17/2012 at 11:33 am #

I make every meal extraordinarily by making it an event. Not only is there delicious food involved, but I think it is I important to include everyone while making it. One person can chop and another can stir and another can be frying something up while someone else sets the table. It makes everyone feel included and a part of their meal. Not to mention it can even make things go by faster!

  39. sallaboutme 05/17/2012 at 11:46 am #

I like to make it an adventure to see what I can put together as gourmet as possible with the odds and ends I find in the pantry and the fridge, sometimes I surprise myself and have an extraordinary meal when it could have just been a boring scavenger mix of leftovers.

  40. thetoastedsprinkle 05/17/2012 at 11:47 am #

    I tried to always use fresh, local ingredients (usually from the farmer’s market) and making it from scratch. Fresh ingredients and love always make things taste better. {oh god that was cheesy}

  41. Pauline 05/17/2012 at 11:47 am #

Those mushroom cookies are so adorable!

Right now, to make a meal special, I’m into adding a scotch bonnet sauce my aunt found. It adds a little spicy punch that’s addictive.

  42. Sunny Sajof 05/17/2012 at 11:51 am #

I love it when I go to the market and there is fresh fish! I then put it into a papillotte with really good olive oil, onions, some thin sliced potatos and ready to go! Good rich olive oil makes things taste nicer!

  43. bananasforbourbon 05/17/2012 at 11:55 am #

I put an egg on it. Really, everything is instantly amazing with a fried or poached egg. I heart runny yolks!

  44. harlequin8eyes 05/17/2012 at 11:58 am #

The best was to make an ordinary meal extraordinary is to share it with people you love!

  45. Sweetmakemesmile 05/17/2012 at 11:58 am #

I try not to make the same dish twice in the same week. I try to have variety food on the table in one meal. Make sure that everyone have at least one dish they happy to see. Last but not least, I bake my desserts .. keep trying to surprise them after a meal ^_^

  46. Stephanie 05/17/2012 at 12:01 pm #

I like to add bacon and cheese to ordinary meals whenever I can!

  47. Nancy Ogen Munce 05/17/2012 at 12:09 pm #

I make meals extraordinary by trying out new recipes. I love scouring the web for ideas. I especially love getting recipes from the many cookbooks my mom has given me over the years.

  48. jessica 05/17/2012 at 12:10 pm #

By adding as many fresh vegetables as possible, and serving on pretty plates!

  49. nickandmargaret 05/17/2012 at 12:11 pm #

It’s all about presentation and homemade meals! A homemade meal always tastes special, and extra details take it up a level. I love collecting dishware from Modcloth and napkins from my local home goods stores because they always prettify the meal. :)

  50. Kathryn 05/17/2012 at 12:15 pm #

I always, always use my Kate Spade china and vintage glassware. Even chinese takeout seems special and looks pretty when its in the right setting!

  51. nickandmargaret 05/17/2012 at 12:18 pm #

I like to make meals that are as much made from scratch as possible… it’s always different from eating something pre-packaged. Presentation also goes a long way–little details like cute dishware which I collect thrifting, from Modcloth, or my local home goods stores always bring the meal up a level! :)

  52. Catherine Rass 05/17/2012 at 12:27 pm #

I think any great meal is made from scratch & using fresh products, but to make a meal extraordinary you have to end it with a Dessert……………and i couldn’t think of a more extraordinary way other than using Sprinkle Bakes delights.

  53. Heather Adamson 05/17/2012 at 12:28 pm #

I make every meal extraordinary by cooking with fresh ingredients; all veg used is picked up from the store where it is grown locally or it is grown be me at home. I use lots of herbs and spices to add exciting new tastes. Another thing that makes my meals extraordinary recently is my ‘chopstick challenge'; i’ve decided to try and eat all of my meals with chopsticks this month no matter what kind of food it is. This certainly makes every meal time interesting…especially my porridge at breakfast time!

  54. dawngrimes 05/17/2012 at 12:35 pm #

Personally, I think mushrooms and sweet potatoes make any meal extraordinary! :)

  55. Gabby Hayes 05/17/2012 at 12:47 pm #

I make my meals extraordinary by never doing things the same way twice… I always add something different or swap out meats or fruits. I also serve my dishes on extra adorable plates and in special glasses and garnish as creatively as possible!

  56. Elizabeth 05/17/2012 at 12:50 pm #

Fresh herbs, gray sea salt, and a little of a really good dairy product (cream, butter, or Parmesan) go a long way to elevate a meal.

  57. IFeelCook 05/17/2012 at 1:16 pm #

Quality and comfort food and great company :) Feeding people we love is the most loving act in the world!

  58. Christina 05/17/2012 at 1:21 pm #

Making the everyday extraordinary is one of my pleasures in life. As far as meals go, I think using very fresh and colorful ingredients such as herbs and vegetables can really amp up the oomph factor of nearly any meal. Adding fresh parsley or a squeeze of lemon juice can make all the difference to our eyes and mouths. It doesn’t hurt to end with a fantastic homemade dessert, either. :-)

  59. Jacqui 05/17/2012 at 1:30 pm #

By adding the freshest ingredients possible and putting a lot of time and effort into what I am cooking! I want to enjoy every bite I eat of something.

  60. Amanda 05/17/2012 at 1:57 pm #

I try to make everything from scratch – especially when I bake. The time and commitment it takes to do that makes every creation special. Plus I like to try something new each time, whether it’s attempting a challenging new recipe or perfecting an old one or adding some of my own unique ingredients. This keeps it fun for me and unpredictable for those who try my creations!

  61. Jenny Deu 05/17/2012 at 2:01 pm #

As head chef of my cooking clan, I use the assistance of my 3 sous-chefs, which would be my 2 sons and husband, to create a culinary event extraordinaire! This usually entails actual measuring, stirring, and adding of ingredients by our 8-year-old. Then my husband and the 2-year-old double as taste-testers. Best bets for adding that special touch to a meal? Don’t be timid in the kitchen! Be daring and bold w/ your flavor choices – crushed red pepper flakes add a little kick to any sauce; nutmeg or honey can bring out some natural sweetness, even in savory dishes. So show some confidence and have fun. To round out the meal, you don’t need fancy flatware or a centerpiece. Lit candles, conversation, and compliments to the chef are enough for my family. And don’t worry if that daring souffle you attempted didn’t work. There’s always tomorrow night! Bon appetit!

  62. Stephanie D. 05/17/2012 at 2:22 pm #

I like to make a meal extraordinary by surprising my husband with his favorite meal and freshly made iced sweet tea. I set the table with the china dishware we used for our wedding reception, place candles or flowers in the middle of the table for a nice centerpiece, leave a love note wrapped in his napkin and sprinkle heart confetti around the centerpiece and dishes.

  63. Megan S 05/17/2012 at 2:45 pm #

I like adding a bit of color to dishes – savory dishes with tumeric or a drop of food dye in sweets.

  64. Maddie Swab 05/17/2012 at 2:55 pm #

Just eating a meal with my family and friends around makes an everyday meal extraordinary!

  65. Abigail 05/17/2012 at 3:53 pm #

I have an insatiable sweet tooth, so I make my everyday meals extraordinary by having a sweet surprise waiting for me after the main course. I try to make sweets that I haven’t tried making before so I can know how to make them in the future. I also like to use extra supplies that are around the house that aren’t being used, like bananas, oh how they come in handy when those sweet cravings hit. A dessert is just as important as the main dish, in my eyes, and that’s how I like to make my meals unique.

  66. Michelle (@awholelotoflife) 05/17/2012 at 4:40 pm #

ha! I do absolutely nothing to make my meals extraordinary. I put it on a plate and I eat it. Maybe this means I need to win this book more than anyone ;)

  67. Charlotte 05/17/2012 at 4:42 pm #

Preparing and sharing a meal with family and friends makes even a simple meal so special… so do using fresh ingredients, making things from scratch whenever possible, and baking a scrumptious dessert!

  68. Eric 05/17/2012 at 4:45 pm #

Good ingredients… but just as important is the time to enjoy them with good company. Dinners are a time to slow down and visit. Turn off all the electronics and chat.

  69. Sarah 05/17/2012 at 4:52 pm #

I eat it with a cute dessert and a friend by my side!

  70. alexaronoff 05/17/2012 at 5:12 pm #

I try to make every meal extraordinary by making as much as I can from scratch, like buffalo sauce! I love using fresh ingredients so we know exactly what we’re eating. I also scour the internet for interesting new recipes so we always have something exciting and new to try, whether it works out every time or not!

  71. heather 05/17/2012 at 5:46 pm #

Eating a meal at the table makes everything about it extraordinarily special. :)

  72. AmandaZ 05/17/2012 at 6:06 pm #

I like to make an everyday meal extraordinary by experimenting! I love to cook and bake and the best way I’ve found to make my recipes amazing is by playing with flavors and ingredients. I like to take recipes from my family or recipes I’ve found online and twist them and new and interesting ways.

  73. Suzanne 05/17/2012 at 6:16 pm #

I cook something other than Kraft dinner or Pop-Tarts!

  74. Susana 05/17/2012 at 9:41 pm #

I try to make my meals extraordinary by trying new recipes my family has never eaten before.

  75. Frida 05/17/2012 at 11:53 pm #

I make a meal extraordinary by just having the people I love around me to eat it with me. Being able to make something for yourself is nice but ordinary but being able to see the smiles on my loved one’s faces when I serve them something delicious that I was able to make makes meals truly extraordinary.

  76. Grace 05/18/2012 at 12:19 am #

A sprinkle of love leaves everything tasting more extrodinary!

  77. bluedevilsinger 05/18/2012 at 12:34 am #

Honestly, I cook with love. When you cook with love, something just tastes that much better!

  78. Ann 05/18/2012 at 1:47 am #

Sometimes I just add sprinkles to make it more special! (A kiwi covered in sprinkles is my favorite)

  79. Jillian 05/18/2012 at 6:01 am #

By mixin chili powder into vegetables and meat instead of salt. It’s gives foods more flavor but without making them bad for you. For desserts you can’t go wrong with mixing dried fruits and nuts in. Yum.

  80. Ana 05/18/2012 at 8:05 am #

I love to add color to everyday meals, and by color I mean different vegetables or salads that add life to the plate :). I love a colorful meal.

  81. Wendy Morgan 05/18/2012 at 8:14 am #

Setting a nice table makes an ordinary meal extrodinary. Have the table covered with a nice tablecloth, use linen napkins, and have all the plates, flatware, and glasses in their places. Put the mashed potatoes or mac-n-cheese into serving bowls and set them at the table instead of in the pots you cooked in. If you really want to set the mood add a centerpiece of candles or flowers to the table as well. Then have everyone sit together and eat as a family. No distractions, turn off the phones, tv, music. Talk to each other about your day. It doesn’t matter what you are serving, if you used special spices or an expensive cut of meat, eating together at a well dressed table makes every meal extrodinary.

  82. Malinda 05/18/2012 at 8:49 am #

Getting everyone involved! If everyone is in the kitchen helping make the meal it makes it so much more special!

  83. Anastasia 05/18/2012 at 9:16 am #

I make every meal extraordinary by using different combinations of spices each time!
And also, presentation! If your meal is tasty & lovely to look at, it’s the best!:)

  84. Sandra Rodriguez 05/18/2012 at 9:18 am #

I try to make every meal something special. I always start with using beautiful dishes and silverware that I have acquired, I like to style my food on the dishes and always mix some type of drink to go with my meal. Even if it’s just a meal for one, I like to sit down at my little kitchen table and place linen to make it a bit more specail. Then I enjoy my meal with a little bit of bubbly (usually sparkiling water mixed with juice). Then to top off my meal I always have a dessert and try to make it special. If it’s cookies, I add a little cream and a cup of tea. If it’s cake then I add fruit on the side. The best meals, though, are the ones enjoyed with friends and family.

  85. Megan 05/18/2012 at 10:56 am #

There are a few foods/ingredients that for some odd reason seem especially exotic to me – like avocados, pesto and pine nuts. I try to put them in/on everything: eggs, burgers, wraps, pizza, salads. It always seems to add fancy-factor to a meal. Sun-dried tomatoes and craisins do a similar thing for me. I’ve also been on a curry kick lately – adding a little (or a lot) yellow curry powder to mac & cheese or ketchup makes me feel like I’m not a little kid anymore while eating “kid food”.

  86. Brooke-Marie 05/18/2012 at 10:56 am #

For my husband and I, making meals extraordinary entails a good film. We love matching up our meals with our favorite movies (like penne arrabiata with The Godfather)–it’s perfect for a personal date night. :)

Variety is the spice of life!! so i use spices to “spice up” my meal! you could eat the same food everyday but you would never know if you use different spices! i love to learn about new herbs, spices and combinations from all over the world, india, mexcio, south america, i’m expanding my spice drawer everyday!

I involve the family in the kitchen. We have tons of fun dancing while cooking our favorite dishes (usually Italian). And it gets better when we bake the dessert. Stirring, decorating and licking the batter is the best!

I make everyday meals extraordinaire by using fresh locally grown fruits and veggies. Not only is it delicious, it supports our local community.

I add a little pizzazz to everyday meals by making them as aesthetically pleasing as possible. From fruit to pasta, or even toast I try to arrange my food creations in exciting ways that transform these ordinary dishes to something fun and extraordinary.

How do you make an everyday meal extraordinary? By adding interesting spices so my husband and I can try out new flavors! :)

Serving the meal in colorful different sections of different food items all on the same long, white, rectangular shaped plate “makes it look fancy” as my fiance puts it whenever I do that. ie. the salad, the curry tofu scramble, and the sundried tomato pasta all arranged on the plate in three different sections to make it look like a traffic light.

I make everyday meals extraordinary by eating with my friends and family. Nothing makes a meal more delicious than sharing it with someone I love. Especially when there’s dessert involved!

I love to splurge on high-quality ingredients that I could only afford once in a while! And then I would present the dish on great pretty dishes.

I have a simple list of spices I use most every day. I am a disabled senior female and was taught fresh, fresh, fresh growing up. Cumin, my version of home made Srirachi sauce, garlic chili sauce, and lots of fresh garlic are incorporated into dinner meals most every day. I love reading and putting my spin on delicious recipes.I love to dry the tops of celery stalks on my kitchen window sill and love using them! This is a wonderful site

The way that I spice up a meal is by asking the pros. I will drop into little bakeries, delis, and any quaint food shop, and ask them about the small touches they make to their food. They will tell me how to make a simple little food entry turn into a tasty and unforgettable treat. It’s the Cinderella effect… for food!

I think I’m a bit of a color-combinations freak but, the colors of everyday food are definitely extraordinary.

I “spice up” everyday meals by trying out new foods and recipes and by arranging food artfully on pretty vintage dishes. My current favorite flavoring is basil infused olive oil. It’s perfect for spring and summer cooking and salads! I a vegan artist, and I’m all about making food healthy, delicious, and beautiful.

To make everyday meals extraordinary, I love dressing for dinner. Shirked since the ’80s, I try to bring it back. Whether I simply do up my hair and makeup, or dress in full regalia, it makes the meal a bit more special! :D

I attended pastry school and art school and i find that mixing the two when i am baking is how i make my food extra special. Food is all about how you present it and the quality of ingredients . I want my food to be beautiful and taste like heaven. I love sprinkles new book and i would love a copy.

I always make the most extraordinary meals when I use recipes from community recipe sites (like myrecipes.com). I just pick the ones with 4 or 5 stars and always come out with amazing results!
