We even interviewed Bethany and her hubby Randy, so they could share some tips on how creatives can best utilize the Pinterest platform. Read on to hear how!

How did you realize Pinterest was a good fit for featuring Beers & Beans’ content?
Initially when we started playing with Pinterest, we really had no idea how it would turn out. I hoped people would like my photos, and as I put more up it became clear that we were onto something. It turns out that travel photography and the platform go hand-in-hand, like two peas in a pod!

How can creatives utilize Pinterest to promote their personal projects?
Pinterest creates leverage to a huge crowd of people that aren’t in your normal online realm, and it allows them to discover your work in a more organic way. On most social media platforms, people follow you because they follow your blog. Facebook is a really good example of that. Most people that follow us on Facebook are already fans of Beers & Beans, but on Pinterest it’s completely opposite. They find us first on Pinterest and then they wander over to our site. It gives us the opportunity to show them more of our personality ‘off the clock’.

We suggest creating high-quality boards that people will want to follow by making sure everything is visually pleasing, and be sure to write funny or interesting captions to go with them. Let your personality, style, and interests shine though, so they want to learn more about you. Combine fantastic pins with pins of your own work, and you will get new followers and readers.

Thanks so much, Bethany and Randy!
