Nail Klub: Contest Winner Kailey’s David Lynch-Inspired Manicure

PinterestTwitterEmailFacebooktumblr

Last week, the ModCloth Facebook gurus hosted our first-ever Marvelous Manicure contest — a chance for nail artists from all over to show off their haute handiwork. Facebook fans voted on their top five favorite designs, and our judging panel (which included editors, social media specialists, and, you guessed it, the ladies of Nail Klub) picked a winner.

While we loved — I mean LOVED — so many of the inspiring submissions, it was Kailey’s David Lynch entry that ultimately stole our hearts. Whether you’re a fan of the creepy-cool Blue Velvet director or just an admirer of eye-catching polish patterns, the bold, graphic designs in Kailey’s manicure are definitely worth a try!

To create the precise shapes, we used super skinny art brushes that we bought at the drugstore. We also kept a lid full of nail polish remover on hand to thin out the polish and make it easier to work with. While these designs do require some time and patience, the results look so chic. Try these shapes out in different colors, by themselves, or together like Kailey did. When you’re done, let us know how it turned out in the comments below!

Very cute. I did a full chevron set a in June during a Twin Peaks bender, the link is below. If you don’t have nail brushes, Scotch tape cut into little v’s delivers the same result. Just make sure you cut off the jagged ends and thin the polish out enough. :D
