One Versatile Button-down Dress, Four Ways

ModStylist Kelly in the Blue and Me Forever Dress

With school, work, and fall activities in high gear, it’s important to have a versatile go-to dress to depend on. Inspired by a question by customer Kristin S. on the ModStylists’ Facebook page, the ModStylists tackled the task of styling the Blue and Me Forever Dress four ways. With each ModStylist taking a different colorway of the frock and following their own style cues, they fashioned four looks that will have you wondering if it’s really the same dress!

DAY ‘N’ NIGHT — “For the black version of this dress, I wanted to give it a simple day-to-night look,” says ModStylist Kelly, who pictured wearing this out to a dinner or fun shopping date. “Try pairing it with bright leggings, a statement necklace, and boots to really make it pop!”

Kelly wears:

Lakeside Lodge Leggings
Moss and Fern Boot
Leafing Town Necklace
Well Plait Bracelet

IT’S CASUAL – “To create a more casual look, I left the dress open and layered it over skinny jeans and a lace peplum top,” says ModStylist Chelsey. “Coupled with camel booties, a gold pendant, and my favorite bow ring, this look is great for daytime activities or a casual Friday at work.”

Chelsey wears:
Blue and Me Forever Dress in Red
Special Day Top
Shenanigans Boot
Talk of Downtown Jeans
Six of Hearts Necklace
Tied for Gold Ring

DATE NIGHT – Amy styled the rich cobalt version of the Blue and Me Forever Dress with a dinner date or outdoor wedding in mind. “I kept it simple yet a little dressed up,” says Amy. “The polka-dot tights and envelope-inspired purse add a bit of fun to the outfit. I love the versatility of this piece — it can be worn for so many occasions!”

Amy wears:
Blue and Me Forever Dress
Fan Flair Tights
Feature Presentation Earrings
Pool Decked Out Wedge

ModStylist Jess in the Blue and Me Forever Dress

FOR THE WHIM – ModStylist Jess knew she wanted a fun, lighthearted look, and gravitated towards whimsical accessories such as a rainbow bracelet and sparkly silver shoes. “I knew I wanted to incorporate the cat-printed tights into my outfit, and juxtaposed them with the bright kelly green of the dress and black-and-white stripes of the bag. By adding an adorable boombox necklace, rainbow bracelet, and silver shoes, I think this look has a modern ’80s vibe! Even though this isn’t my usual style, I really love the final look.”

Jess wears:
Blue and Me Forever Dress in Green
I’m Just Kitten Tights
Sweet Beats Necklace
Flair Shake Bracelet
Walk and Roll Wedge in Pewter

ModStylists’ Tips for Versatile Styling

  • Add statement accessories — Chunky necklaces, patterned tights, or whimsical bags can transform even the most basic dress into something unique!
  • Think outside the box – Wear that item in an unexpected way. If it’s a button-down dress or top, try wearing it open as a layering piece. This extends the versatility, giving you yet another way and opportunity to wear it!
  • Have fun – Make the look your own, whether it’s tossing your favorite striped leggings or signature necklace into the mix!

I’m not so into this dress, is it just me or does it make everyone look bigger?

    @Olivia: Oh, that’s mean. But perhaps a bit true…

Yeah, not trying to be mean but it just does a little!

I though it would be faily flattering but after seeing these pic’s I’d have to agree with the two previous comments :(

I wonder what it would look like with a thick belt around the waist? Maybe that would proportion things out more than just the tie. I like the idea of wearing it cardigan style.

Does anyone know what sizes are show here? I want to make sure the size I order doesn’t swallow me..
