Decoration doesn’t get much simpler or cuter than this! Use a toothpick as the base for tape flags, and let the colors fly.
If you’ve been tempted to buy a stack of decorative washi tape, do it! They’re far more functional than the term ‘decorative’ leads you to believe, and can be used for endless DIY washi tape creations. With holiday season among us, and event planning and hosting nearing high tide, these inexpensive little rolls will work decorative wonders in a big way.
Check out our previous post that lists three at-home ways to utilize a colorful collection of tapeāand swoon over three more event-inspired ways in which you can work washi magic into your holiday!

If store-bought cards aren’t your thing, here’s a simple solution: Cut slits in the sides of a blank card, string baker’s twine from end to end, and use the washi tape to create small pointed flags across the draped string. Instant, and personal DIY decoration!

Cake bunting is an all-time favorite of mine, and couldn’t be any easier when made with this tiny tape. Similar to the garland card above, I created this cake bunting using baker’s twine, and stuck the tape to itself over the twine to create little flags. Leave them square, cut them into into triangles, or switch up the string for endless creative combinations.
I hope these ideas inspire you to have a brighter, more beautifully decorated season. Happy celebrating!
