Tired of wearing your heart on your sleeve? Why not try something new this Valentine’s Day and wear it on your shoe! These DIY shoe clips are not only super simple to create, but are an easy way to breathe new life into a favorite pair of shoes. Whether you’re planning to celebrate the day with your sweetheart or a group of friends, these customizable clips will make your heart skip a beat!
Sequin Heart Clips
For red sequin hearts, you’ll need:
One piece of red craft store felt
Single strand red sequins (found in the ribbon aisle of a craft store)
A hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Clip-on earring backs
1. Decide on the size you’d like your hearts to be and trace four identical hearts onto the red felt (we created a template out of paper). Carefully cut the four hearts out of the fabric.

2. Pair up two of the hearts and carefully sandwich together using your hot glue gun and glue, being careful to match up the edges.

3. Adding a small amount of glue at a time, begin fastening the sequin strand to the outer edges of the heart. Add more glue as you go.

4. Once you have a perimeter of sequins, continue gluing the strand inward until the entire heart is covered. Carefully snip the end and fasten with a dab of glue.

5. Once the glue has cooled completely, flip the heart over and fasten an earring clip-on to the back with a dab of hot glue. Repeat the steps to complete a matching heart.

6. Repeat the steps to complete a matching heart. Clip to shoes and watch your footsteps sparkle!
Polka-dot Bow Clips

For polka-dot bows, you’ll need:
Two pieces 1.5-inch wide by 6-inch long grosgrain ribbon
Two pieces 1-inch wide by 6-inch long grosgrain ribbon
One piece 1/4-inch wide by 6-inch long satin ribbon
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Clip-on earring backs
1. Begin by taking one piece of your 1.5-inch wide ribbon and looping it into a circle, fasten with a dab of hot glue.

2. Layer a piece of the 1-inch wide ribbon over the loop you’ve created and fasten at the seam with a dab of glue.

3. Press the loop together at the center and fasten the end of one piece of your 1/4-inch stain ribbon to the seam.

4. Carefully wrap the satin ribbon around the center of your loop, tightening just enough to create a bow shape. Secure the end at the back with a dot of glue, trimming the end.

5. Once the glue has cooled completely, flip the bow over and fasten an earring clip-on to the back with a dab of hot glue.

6. Repeat the steps to create a matching bow. Clip them to your favorite pair of heels and bask in their bow-ed beauty!
Bow-backed Heart Clips

For bow-backed hearts, you’ll need:
One piece of fuchsia craft store felt
Four 1-inch wide by 6-inch long pieces of satin ribbon
A hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Clip-on earring backs
1. Decide on the size you’d like your hearts to be and trace four identical hearts onto the fuchsia felt (we created a template out of paper). Carefully cut the four hearts out of the fabric.
2. Pair up two of the hearts and carefully sandwich together using your hot glue gun and glue, being careful to match up the edges. Set aside.

3. Taking one piece of the satin ribbon, create a loop and fasten with a dab of glue. Repeat with a second piece of ribbon.

4. Layer the two loops crosswise and pinch in the center to create a bow shape. Secure at the axis with glue.

5. Add a dab of glue to the center of the ribbon and fasten one of your paired hearts to the middle.

6. Press the heart to secure.

7. Once the glue has cooled completely, flip the bow over and fasten an earring clip-on to the back with a dab of hot glue.

8. Repeat the steps to create a matching bow. Clip them to your shoes for a look that will make your heart pitter-patter!

Such a good series of ideas! Nicely done.
These are positively adorable. I’m going to a Valentine’s-themed swing dance party; these will be perfect! Now to pick which one I like best… Thanks for the idea and tutorial!!
What a cute idea. This could jazz up any pair of flats as well. I will definitely be doing this!
I really like the first, one!
Everything looks relatively simple except – do they “clip on earring backs” really stay on shoes?
Yes, it’s basically the same thing the store-bought shoe clips use. Except instead of paying upwards of twenty dollars it’s closer to 5!
these are so pretty! definitely going to try the red sequin hearts! :)

Reminds me of Cinderella’s glass slippers but in pink!
These are amazingly beautiful work of art! I have several plain heels and flats and this will definitely give life to it. Plus many will think I have many pairs of shoes :-) I will definitely try this.
what fabulous ideas, thank you! I have a really bleahh pair of shoes which are super comfy and could do with sprucing up. This is perfect. I’m adding some sequinned hearts :)
Does anyone know: will the clip on earring hardware damage my shoes?
