Who: Laura of Thrifting Through Life
What: 1960′s vintage wool suit (suit jacket not pictured)
Where: “I have a friend who works at a consignment shop in Long Island. If vintage pieces get down to final clearance, she can’t help but use her employee discount and purchase them, even if they aren’t her size. When I was visiting her over my fall break, she practically forced me to try it on, even though I didn’t think it would fit me.”
How much: $20
When I use it: ”When I need to look professional, but still want to feel confident and show off my love for vintage style.”
Shopping tips: ”My mother is the one that really got me into thrift shopping and bargain hunting, and I always come back to her advice: ‘If you like it and the price is right, don’t let the size on the tag prevent you from at least trying it on.’ Sizes can be super weird, and that is never more true than when secondhand shopping; if you confine yourself to one size section, you could be missing out on some really amazing items.”
