The snazzy colors and eye-catching patterns of our Patterns at Play stylebook are fantastically fun — especially when they’re worn by our effervescent model, Amy! This Californian cutie can really rock an outfit, but it’s her tenacious nature, retro style, and sense of humor that have us totally charmed. Learn more about our gal’s inspirations, loves, and super-fashionable projects in our interview!
This stylebook is all about prints and patterns — what inspirations do you keep in mind when putting together your own outfits?
I’m fashion’s mongrel child — part Alexa Chung androgyny, and part Brigitte Bardot-European-’60s-chic. My view on style is “anything goes.” Fashion is self-expression, so mix, match, and be bold.
What dreams do you most hope to achieve in your life? It’s okay if they’re far-fetched!
I do a fashion blog called Mod Dolls with Jessie Rabideau from America’s Next Top Model. Check it out! My dream would be to host our very own TV show where we go around showcasing fashion designers’ newest lines and attend Fashion Week. I am also in the middle of creating my own clothing line and designing shoes. My stuff is very ’60s-inspired, with a quirky twist and loads of details. Ah, if I had a cat’s nine lives…
Tell us about one thing you’ve always wanted to learn.
I’ve always wanted to learn to play drums.
How do you develop the confidence to step in front of the camera?
Confidence improves with time. Trust me! I’ve been doing this for years, and still, I’m goofy or even awkward, sometimes. But, fundamentally, believe in what you’re showing off — whether it’s your style, your wit, or you.
What’s your hidden talent?
I rap, sing, and play the harmonica. Say ‘hello’ if you see me on the street — I’ll dish it out for you or play you a sweet song on chords.
