Way back in February our ModStylists put out a call inviting local Pittsburghers to tell us all about their fabulous BFFs. After sifting through over 300 inspiring entries, they chose local ladies Kelsey and Jenna (pictured right to left) to receive the prize of ModCloth gift certificates and a visit to our office for a photoshoot and styling session. We were so inspired by these two besties that we just had to share some behind-the-scenes peeks at their fun-filled day!

Read on for a behind-the-scenes look at their photoshoot and to learn more about this dynamic duo!

Kelsey and Jenna met through their work at Thread, a Pittsburgh-based company that turns trash from Haiti into usable products. “Our work is a bit nontraditional, which played a crucial role in bringing us closer together,” says Kelsey. “Starting a business with people forms a weird kind of family. You spend a ton of time together, have to talk about things like money, values, and your future — throw in riding in the back of a pick-up truck through downtown Port-au-Prince, and surviving a year of no salary together while you bootstrap your business — and you become very close with your team very fast!”

“We’ve had to get creative when it comes to our wardrobes, since the start-up budget doesn’t allow for a lot of shopping. She’s become my clothing-swap partner in crime, and we share sales and other awesome deals as we find them,” says Kelsey. “Jenna has a great sense of style, and is always put-together. Even in 95 degree heat in Haiti while looking over recycling equipment, she’ll be wearing a chic scarf and cute t-shirt!”

Kelsey went on to say, “Jenna has become one of my best friends and an amazing mentor. I go to her for advice on work, on dating, for just about anything. Getting to see her almost every day and work with her at an organization we both really believe in is a joy.”
