A Japanese Art Collective’s Riff on the GIF

GIFs are like gold doubloons — they dazzle the eyes, and you can never have too many. (Or so I’ve heard; I’m having a hard time acquiring any doubloons for verification.) In short, people just love GIFs. They love ‘em! So, it was inevitable that someone, someday would make gif art…and the Japanese art collective who did has done a damn fine job of it.

Rrrrrrrroll’s tastefully hypnotizing gallery of GIFs features spinning self-portraits and (un)still lifes that look like they’ve stumbled right off the reel of Fantasia, each perfectly composed picture featuring at least one object rotating as if by magic.

Sift through these quasi-creepy, quasi-humorous, totally engrossing vignettes, and tell us if you know anyone else who has a gift for GIFs. We’d love to see more art like this!

About Hannah

"Q: Where do cantaloupes go for the summer? A: John Cougar Mellon Camp!" From that joke you can surmise a few things about Hannah -- she loves a good pun, she delights in irreverence, and red peppers are her vegetable of choice. How does one figure out Hannah loves red peppers from that joke? Hmm, that's top secret. Hannah also adores outdoor activities, arts & crafts, reading, and being abroad.
